Parker 45 Photo Thread

This is what I did to display the Parker 45 fountain pens:  I already had a special collection of Parker Jotters, displayed in this box, in every imaginable color.  I temporarily removed the Jotters and substituted 45s; they were not a perfect fit but an adequate fit.  I just wish I had better lighting for the photo, and that’s after trying to increase the “lighting” and “exposure” in the Mac Photos app.  Here are some additional photos, a bit closer up, each of half of the circle:

The 3 middle “45" pens are 1 ballpoint and 2 mechanical pencils.

I’ll add two more photos.  First, a comparison of my one Magenta 45 shown next to a new Magenta Jotter FP and a Pink 45 with a demontrator section.  The Magenta 45 appears to be authentic Parker, although the middle band is different, and the color is much less bright than one would hope for.  The eBay seller manipulated the photo to make it appear to be the bright magenta we’re used to seeing in photos.  But the Magenta 45 is so, so rare that I didn’t complain.  By the way, the Pink 45’s barrel color is the same as the Argentine “Beta” Pink.  The two 45s shown have the authentic end-of-barrel appearance (not shown below) that one looks for in the 45.

Second, my Harlequin Black Circlet, which took a long time to find for purchase, but which I finally purchased on eBay:

I’ll add that at this point, I have managed to accumulate three of the "Happy Colors” Yellow 45 FPs, and one was a FP-BP set.  I’d say that this Yellow is just a little less rare than the Magenta version.  My first one I purchased for only $95 from Peyton Street Pens several years ago.  I paid much more for the other two.

@donnweinberg WOW!  Truly amazing collection (I'm totally jealous, BTW...).

Some macro photos I've made recently. This was my very first Parker actually and exactly it made me love their fps. Been with me for a while, a never-betraying pen that I like taking pics of from time to time. I've no idea if I'll be getting more of Parkers 45 in the future as this one was exactly the version I wanted so much - metal flighter with the black jewel.

My first semi-vintage pen, and first pen with a gold nib, was a Parker 45.  Found it in a box with some other pens at a little antiques store on the eastern edge of Corry, PA, on a weekend car trip with my husband through some of the northern tier counties in Pennsylvania (basically east of Erie then continued east till we hit the intersection of US 6 and I-81).

Posted pix of the pen (I was still pretty new here, and didn't know much about older pens at that point -- just that it was a Parker) and someone pointed me at a video on how to take the nib assembly apart for thorough cleaning that Tyler Dahl had made, and someone else told me roughly when it was probably made.  And I'll tell you -- you put the right ink in that pen (I was using modern Quink Black at first)?  That 14K M nib was like dancing on ice across the page!

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
