New Hakase’s

Mew

Recommended Posts

I ordered 4 (or maybe 5) Hakase’s in November 2023. 4 of them arrived last week.

I got 2 of the persimmon Urushi with different nibs. All the pens can no longer be ordered. I personally like the lapis lazuli the most, for the person I ordered it for, even though I can no longer give it to her.

Thanks for looking.

Beautiful pens! Do you use these on a daily basis?

Thanks. For the past 1.5 years, I don’t think I have used or bought any other pens apart from Hakase. Haven’t inked the ones in the thread but will do soon.

@whichwatch and @PAKMAN -- I was just thinking the same thing!  But have a bad feeling that it would be completely out of my price range (and of course, the other ones would be "no way!" pens for me because of the urushi finish...  :().

Update: I didn’t like the black persimmon pens, so they have since been sold. Other 2 stay with me and have been extensively used in the past 1 year.

Just curious: what didn't you like about those pens?

Black section. I prefer the rosewood ebonite section if the pen does not use buffalo horn.
Plus one of those pens used parts from another Hakase pen that I previously owned, which broke 2 times in 2 years. So we gave up on that one and used parts of that pen in one of those black persimmon. Didn’t like the original pen either.

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.
    • Ceilidh
Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
