Thank you, @LizEF, for your ink review-story-macro photo-quote-motivation!

:) You're most welcome!

I will stand with my friends, the Pelikan 4001 and the Waterman Turquoise!

 Same!  (Though truthfully, I wouldn't have the Pelikan had a friend - a non-FP friend1 - given it to me.)

Indeed, it is another turquoise ink from the good-old-time. The good aspect is, everybody can find a turquoise ink independent from manufacturer preferences! 👍 I think, that's another form of equality, isn't it? 🤫

 Indeed.  Since everyone makes it and they're all nearly identical, you can just go with whatever is available in your area and whichever brand you prefer, without worrying you're missing out on the best one...

I'm looking forward to your next review and to how this magical-medical story will go on! :)

:) Thanks!

1In hopes it will cheer others remotely, I will tell about this friend.  She lives in my neighborhood.  She's a trauma nurse (with stories of nightmares and miracles from the pandemic, and other times).  We attend the same church.  I teach a class there and often joke about how they should be taking notes with a fountain pen. :D For reasons I don't know, one year she decided to adopt me (pretty sure she's a little younger than I am), and started bringing me gifts on holidays when single people often wouldn't get gifts (such as Valentines day).  The first time she did this, it was the usual gifts - chocolate and such.  But the next time, she brought me Pelikan 4001 Turquoise (and some chocolate)! :D  The next Sunday, we had fun talking about how surprised I was to find ink rather than chocolate, and how unsure she was, buying a fountain pen ink with zero knowledge.  Then this year, she brought me an Easter basket with a lovely journal and some Pelikan 4001 Violet. :D  (She thought since I liked the first, she should stick with the same brand.)

May all of us have such thoughtful friends who remember even the casual jokes we make!  (And may we all try to be such good friends!)

Your friend sounds like a lovely person!

Reminding me now a bit of the people who live next door, who took in a couple of foster kids (siblings, with five other siblings spread out over other foster homes, because the parents apparently had mental issues and couldn't care for them).  A few years ago (I think I was dropping off mail that had been mis-delivered to our house) Mary said that she and Bridge had scheduled a "playdate" so the two kids they have could visit with their siblings.  And then a few weeks ago, she told me that they are looking into starting the adoption process for the two kids they've been fostering (but haven't told the kids yet, in case there's any issues).  And I was like "How lovely!"

Last week, of course I was in Columbus for the Ohio Pen Show, but I told my husband to call next door and see if they wanted to bring the kids over for trick or treating.  And he said that it ended up being 6 adults and 5 kids because they had friends over who had bought THEIR kids....  And last spring, Mary called Steve and asked if we were interested in buying Girl Scout cookies -- one of the kids is (or was) in something that's a precursor to Brownies.  And we HAPPILY bought 6 boxes....  (three boxes of the mint chocolate ones, for him; and three boxes of Samoas, for me).

foster kids

When people do this sincerely (as opposed to some of the abusers who do this), they earn extra points as humans, as far as I'm concerned.  It's truly a good person who gives these kids a good home.

Of the swatches I have, my favorites as Turquoises are very similar to each other (to my eye): Diamine Marine and Encre Classique Turquoise. They seem to have the color balance right, and to have the brightness one wants from a turquoise.

I might get some Marine next time I get some Diamine. That seems like a nice ink!

Stolen: Aurora Optima Demonstrator Red ends Medium nib. Serial number 1216 and Aurora 98 Cartridge/Converter Black bark finish (Archivi Storici) with gold cap. Reward if found. Please contact me if you have seen these pens.

Please send vial orders and other messages to fpninkvials funny-round-mark-thing gmail strange-mark-thing com. My shop is open once again if you need help with your pen.

 What a lovely and marvelous story!

We need more such neighbours instead of "the others" - more together, less against.

And, it is a fountain pen ink story! 👍

And, it is a chocolate story! :)

One life!

Oh yeah -- Mary and Bridge are definitely good people!

ETA: I remember the year I sold Girl Scout cookies.  It was a HORRIBLE experience, in that something like 2/3 of my troop lived within 3 blocks of my house, and my parents were firmly of the belief that "No, your father is NOT going to take orders FOR you at his job..." the way a lot of people do (the whole point being that you're supposed to learn stuff like salesmanship and finance and such).  I walked to the other side of town and still managed to only sell about 20 boxes including the three my mom bought.  (My brother's Boy Scout Troop sold magazine subscriptions and there was always at least one that my mom was willing to buy.)

Years ago, when I first moved to Pittsburgh, my husband's then boss lived around the corner, and one year his wife called up and said their daughter was selling Girl Scout cookies and was I interested and I said, "SURE!  Send her up here!" only the kid balked and didn't want to go around.  Then for several years we'd buy them from a booth at the Pittsburgh Home Show (I think it was all the troops in the area collaborating) or if a troop was allowed to sell them in the entryway to one of the area grocery stores or outside the local Target.
