If you are really stuck getting this pen working (and it's not one for total beginners) at the end of the month in Columbus, there is the Ohio Pen Show.  There are normally pen repairers and people selling parts at major shows, which this one is.  BTW the nib is supposed to be this shape, turned up a bit and it will clean up with a jewelry polishing cloth.

I still can't get the grip and nib assembly unstuck from each other. Heat from the hair dryer doesn't seem to help, even using a rubber gripper for traction.

Since no one else has asked and your reply does not make it clear, you are trying to unscrew it and not pull it out???  I personally have not taken one of these apart, primarily because of the difficulty level. There is a wonderful tool designed by Francis Goossen to disassemble these, I am building up the funds to buy one right now.

What specifically do you use?

I just use Ranex Rustbuster from the local hardware store.  I don't know what the professional repairers do.  Someone like Ron Z can probably advise.

The tool does not work on TM nibs. It is designed for the fatter triumph nibs that lack any exposed plastic collar.

In my experience, these nibs usually come off after running the section + nib through an ultrasonic and then with gentle heat. The exposed plastic portion of the collar really helps. Be careful not to overdo it with the heat; you can melt the celluloid section. If you’ve got one that’s really stuck, apply some naphtha to the various joints.

(Someone will likely yell at me, but I once had one stuck on there so good that I actually ran the section + nib through an ultrasonic in a little cup filled with naphtha.)

Having just worked on one.....why do you want do totally disassemble ?

A good soak, ultrasonic cleaner, and a good flush with a bulb filler could be the ticket....you may be surprised at how clean it might be....

Other far more experienced than me will have additional guidance...  make sure the blind cap is sealed with a rubber gasket..as has been pointed out in many threads hear by others and Ron.  Made out-of an old sac.

Also section sealant from Ron will help too.
