M1000 nib unit disassembly

Hello,

I hope I will not find it necessary to disassemble the pictured nib unit, but if I have to-is the depicted process how it's done?

I insert the nib unit/collar upside against a barrier; and give a little blow against a piece of scrap wood on top of the feed?  (I like to use wood as a sort of cushion w delicate items).

Any input is welcome

Thank you!

It's hard to do without a section to hold it because the nib is wider than the OD of the collar.  You risk scratching the nib putting it through the hole.

Take a scrap piece/rod of Ebonite or acrylic and drill and tap it with M10x0.75mm threads. This is a standard tap in my part of the world. Screw the nib unit into this piece and then carry out the knockout procedure you have planned.

Thanks guys,

I should have posted earlier that I was able to make a little knock out block w part of the circular cut out relieved to accommodate the wide nib shoulders.

M10  0.75?   I'm not at home now, but have a lot of taps.  We shall see.   Thank you.

Now, I am off to another issue w a KOP, if I can find a way to get the picture to post.
