1. Noodler’s North African Violet

2. Sailor Seiboku

3. DeAtramentis Document Black (for writing) and Sepia (for sketching)

I have since discovered the value of Sailor’s Kiwaguro black pigmented ink.  Which has taken over that #3 spot.  Love this ink!

I have also discovered an ink I won’t use anymore… Bungubox Eternal Music.  It is a lovely blue-based black that came with a pen I had ordered from them.  Unfortunately, it kept jamming any pen I put it in, including the one it came with.  Three (maybe 4) strikes and it is out!

- Parker Penman Sapphire (I have 1 1/2 bottles lweft) and Scribe Indigo, the blu ink made by the ink engineer who designed PPS

- Irosizuku Asa-Gao

- Smattering of others, as whimsy takes me: current Parker Quink (permanent) Blue and older Quink Blue-Black (with Solv/X), {rivate Reserve DC Supershow Blue, Pilot Blue, Diamine Oxford Blue, Monteverde Horizon Blue and Ocean Noir.

Greetings Welch!

May you show us a sampler of Parker Penman Saphire  and Scribe Indigo ?

I am curious to know if both inks look identical o very similar,

Best regards,

R.

Here's something I love:

Mostly used? No. But it's certainly one to be considered as a 'top three' ink for everyday use.

I have a sample of Kakitsubata.  Gonna have to pull it out and do a side by side with 4001 Brilliant Black at some point, I see....

Just a guess since I switch things around a lot:

  • L'Artisan Pastellier Classique Gris de Payne
  • PenBBS 346 Misty Mountain
  • Sailor Souboku

I also keep returning to taupes like R&K Sepia & L'AP Classique Brun Ours and grey greens like Herbin Vert Empire & L'AP Classique Olive.

Will I ever break out of these grey leaning, laid back colors into more cheery ones? I am trying to!

Why? I love the greyed hues best of all too...

Will work for pens...

@AmandaW since I’ve been alternating between green and red inks this month, the first color I’ll use after the green/red stops is the pen with a sample of Montblanc Oyster Gray. And that pen has an italic nib.

No doubt, my greyed friends will always be my closest & best. I just want to expand my social circle a bit to a few cheery, casual acquaintances.

@inkstainedruth  To try to have a valid comparison I used the same Kaigelu medium nib in a dip pen handle.

I didn't think to include Sailor Souboku which would have been interesting but I have it in other comparisons

Speaking of Souboku, does it deteriorate over time like Platinum Blue Black?

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
