AliExpress dispute problem

lascosas

Recommended Posts

I stopped ordering from AliExpress after deciding the savings weren't worth the stress.

My ebay and Amazon purchases are greatly reduced for the same reasons. And very careful if I do.

Just over it.

Will work for pens...

Thank you everyone, but again, my problem is non-delivery.  And yes, from now on I will limit my purchases with them to a price point where I won't be (too) ticked if it doesn't arrive.

Tell the bot you're filing a dispute with whatever payment method you used. I did this when, three weeks after I had delivery confirmation of a returned item, I still had not received the refund. The bot apparently has a trigger see for "file a dispute"  - I had my refund less than five minutes later.

Lots of good advice & experience from everyone.  Our village of fountain pen people coming around to offer assistance.  Thanks so much, and I learned alot.  This morning, two weeks after it was 'delivered' it showed up in the mail box.  Obviously delivered to another property and someone just returned home and found it.  So a happy ending, and a lesson learned.

I want to add information about my recent experience.

I bought a pen (about 50 USD). When it arrived, I discovered that the threads in the cap were heavily damaged* and the threads of the barrel were a little bit damaged.

I first contacted the seller and I gave evidence with photos and a video that there is something wrong.

One person from the seller said that they could mend my cap. I decided that my patience was stretched enough - it took several days - and I don't want a repaired pen. So I used the free return option.

I got a message 3 minutes later that Aliexpress allowed me to return it for free and I will get money back early.  They mentioned that I were in good standing.

The next step was waiting for the pick-up service for three days. This morning, the three days were over and no pickup yet. I also got information that they now followup with reimbursing me.

Now, let's see if the pickup service will really come or if the seller just abandons the pen at my place.

Being cautious now, after hearing about all the problems mentioned here, I made screenshots of all the Aliexpress notifications online.

* Deep scratch perpendicular as if someone tried a sharp tool to get something from the cap - I am not sure but this pen might have been a returned pen before.

What stress exactly?

Packages that are lost, late,  or not what was described.

- flimsy retailer packaging sold as a 'pen storage tray' ($8 plus shipping from AliExpress)

- a book marked as delivery to Amazon Hub by May 9. That's in good time for Mother's Day on the 12th... Except they ship it from another state and change the delivery date to 'May 9th to 29th' on the shipped notification.  It arrived 10 days too late. And the only redress is 'cancel the order'.

- Christmas shopping lost by Amazon, but they won't do anything until after the last delivery date even though there's no change in the tracking from the time they sent it. Finally got the refund with only enough time left to buy the same items locally at double the cost

- ordered 4 of something in 'random colours', got four the same

And many other problems. Over it.

Will work for pens...

Most amazon products are probably just Ali Drop-Shippers or something like that,

Speaking from my own experience as an Amazon customer — with 27 orders to date in 2024, and 160 orders in 2023, according to Amazon.com.au, and that does not include orders I placed on Amazon.com (i.e. in the US) and Amazon.co.jp — I cannot agree with your assessment.

so unless I need a quality item fast, then AliExpress will be my #1 option

For the avoidance of doubt, I also place dozens of orders on AliExpress each year, so I'm quite familiar with the ins and outs of that. I've probably disputed more AliExpress transactions (and won >95% of them) than most fountain pen hobbyists who use AliExpress to get (some of) their goodies.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

Well, it happened to me this week.  Aliexpress had to refund my order because of the seller's shipping problems.

The items I purchased were sent back to the seller, it did not even leave China.  No idea why it happened.

Lesson:  I will not purchase from Aliexpress again.  It was too convoluted to get a refund.  Ebay or Amazon going forward.

seeing that you've won over 95% of disputes with AliExpress goes to show that they'd rather give out whatever you ordered again than to go through all the mess it takes to clear a dispute and see the true guilty party

No, it just means that I'm well prepared enough for the ‘game’ to prevail over the sellers' reluctance, combativeness and objections, such that AliExpress as the platform operator would just side with me and give me a refund at the sellers' expense (so it's really no skin off AliExpress's nose). It doesn't mean I get sent replacements to fulfil my original (and, mind you, reasonable based on the product listings) expectations; I don't get my goods, and they don't get my money.

As for caring about quality, there really isn't much to dispute if a fountain pen, or a bottle of fountain pen ink, or a bottle of liquid body soap arrives intact after I ordered it from Amazon. It doesn't necessarily mean I'm fully satisfied with the product as manufactured, but it just means I think Amazon and/or the seller has fulfilled it part and obligations in the transaction. A Parker Duofold Centennial fountain pen that sucks because of Parker is not Amazon's fault.
