A. A. Waterman twist filler

Recently I had the chance to try to restore one of these, I was warned about the section being a challenge, though, so approached with some caution and thought about it for quite awhile prior to getting the pen. Fortunately on Youtube there is a video to help see one way of doing this. Looking at the pen, since thick strong sacs were used in them like an Ingersoll pen, and taking advantage of 2 vent holes in the barrel I decided to try to break up the sac, and that I think helped. The end screw can only be removed through the barrel, but when the sac was broken I was able to screw this into the barrel and push into the sac to break it up further. Then just cycles of naptha (coleman fuel) and heat and working with fingers noted it had moved a little tiny bit, so continued that over a couple days. It is a close tolerance on the section and they added shellac which is the issue, finally success and then cleaning some reduced oxidization as was more faded than presently. (Hoover)

For this pen I only had the barrel, for the rest, section, feed, from bhr and the cap my usual fabrication, cardstock locktite I know should be bhr but hard to do on my wood lathe. The section isn’t quite right but ok for me.
