Sellers on Aliexpress and Taobao

Recommended Posts

Could someone of you share a list of the most important Chinese fountainpen sellers on Taobao, Aliexpress (and or Ebay)? Other sellers also if you have.

I would like to include it in my list of shops which you can find here:

http://mkengel.de/pensales/pensforsale.html

It would speed up the inclusion.

Thank you.

p.s. I am at the beginning and have a list of 200 shops world-wide which I check one by one and which are not yet included. Be patient, it might take a while until the list becomes really useful.

365Day Stationary Store on AliExpress is a favorite of mine, they answer questions and are always helpful. They are quick to get new models. Good prices—after the introductory markup!

Chinese Pen/St Penpps has custom nibs and good prices.

I could mention 2-3 others that have good prices and a wide selection but you’d think I was talking baby talk: RuiRui, DayDay and Pappihot! 😂

Thanks Dan. I added the two with fountain pens on the front.

Pappihot has been a good vendor for me as well.

I like MIRUI for pens and leather 48 slot pen holders. They have all sorts of office supplies, both cute and serious. DINGYI sells pretty shimmer inks.

Not a particular store, but stuff marked “choice” gets stateside really quickly and is usually on sale and less with coins.

Top 5 (in no particular order) of 20 currently inked pens:

Sheaffer 100 Satin Blue M, Pelikan Moonstone/holographic mica

Parker T1, Dominant Industry Dominant Blue

Pilot Custom 743 <FA>, Oblation Sitka Spruce

Platinum PKB 2000, Platinum Cyclamen Pink

Waterman 52 EF, Herbin Bleu Pervenche

always looking for penguin fountain pens and stationery

On ebay would be :   Office_supplies_pen and YCPENS .

I love Fountain Pens, with hooded nib in the classic style, Parker 51/61 type .

Another seller I can recommend is:  Creative Infinite Stationery Store

The package arrived in record time to the States ....but packaging was minimal at best.

I am always surprised that the pens arrive without damage.

Bubble wrap is our friend.

CR Stationery is a problem, low prices but they don’t mail the pen and make excuses!

It is your fault that I bought this pen on Pappihot. 😁

As far as I've observed, Mary's stationery Store, CR Stationery Store, and Pappihot Official Store (and, a long while ago, pcmos Official Store when it was still selling fountain pens) are very closely related to each other, if not outright just different storefronts of the same mob.

My most recent several orders from Mary's (for dozens of Jinhao Shark pens) turned out OK and were promptly delivered. Orders with CR Stationery Store… well, there appears to be two logically separate sellers by that name, one of which has the SuperDeals offers — such as <US$14 HongDian N8 Maple Leaves, <US$13 Majohn A2, and <US$5 HongDian 1843 — and doesn't accept (for Choice shipping orders) any coupons issued by “the other” CR Stationery Store. In my experience, most times it does fulfil its SuperDeals offers, but sometimes it's just happy to let a paid-for order quietly expire and automatically refunded.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

Good to know—if Mary’s is connected with CR, I will avoid them in the future.

365Days is definitely the same as the Lusfer Store and lately I’ve wondered if Dayday is as well, because they often introduce pens in lockstep with 365Days.

Similar issue I had experienced with CR and Mary's Stationery that's why I put them on my avoid list. It appears we had the same experience. Good to know.

I wonder how many stores have the same owners. Recent orders from three sellers (Montiel, Guangmao, Literary Gift Store) all went through a ware-house at Shatian Town.

Or do the ware-houses specialize in to-be-shipped-to areas?

What I realized is that

a) the shipping fees are higher and

b) the shipping is much quicker and

c) delivery in Japan is through one of the main delivery agents (in my case Yamato).

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.
    • Ceilidh
Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
