Grey Pen Club

Penguincollector

Recommended Posts

I can’t really write today, as I’m waiting on a new desk delivery; so I checked in with @Misfit to see what color pens she wanted to see pictures of next.  After having no pens of the first couple colors suggested, she thought of grey, and as it happens, that’s a color that has been seeing some uptick in my collection.  Here are my greys L to R:  EF Chren grey demonstrator with kawaii skull and crossbones and rainbow nib, EF dark grey freebie Safari clone,

F grey Waterman (feel free to chime in if you know what model it is, F matte grey Sheaffer x Sailor collaboration, EF Chren not so clicky pen with penguins,  Sheaffer Craftsman, and an EF Moonman 80s to round things out.

 Show me your grey pens!

Oh, cool, my favourite colour. I will photograph what I have when I get home. I will be even more interested to see everyone else's collections... Just for educational purposes. And art appreciation, of course.

Will work for pens...

I can’t wait to see them, @AmandaW! I too really enjoy grey, it’s so nice and somehow suits everything.

My only real "grey" pens can also be called "silver" as they are my Parker Flighter collection. (Stainless Steel)

These include 45 (FP, BP and MP). And bp/mp sets of other models. My first flighter was a Jotter.

I have a number of flighters, but I showed them on the  Silver and Gold Pen Club Thread

My first flighter was a Parker Classic that was lost in high school. I have a CT Parker 15 in the first post of the thread posted. We aim to be inclusive rather than exclusive on these color photo threads, so if you didn’t post them in December, feel free to show them here.

I love how every grey is different, @Misfit. Do you have all the grey Kaweco Sports?

@Penguincollector it might seem that way. I’m not sure though. At first I saw the “rock” named ones on a SE Asia website. Then they showed up on Amazon.

@Penguincollector About the Waterman, I suppose you are already familiar with this website but I'll post it just in case. There is a pen similar to yours but with silver trim, the author is not sure about its name but thinks it's a Stalwart or a Dauntless. link to captainchang.com/pens/waterman.html

@Misfit I appreciate your typing the names, there were several on the left hand side I was not familiar with. Thanks.

@Junebe you are very welcome. When it was the blue pen club, I didn’t and just wrote if anyone wanted to know a particular pen to ask. That’s because there were more blue pens.

Geha Scholier 14k EF. Section, cap and a round area possibly underneath a sticker are darker than the rest of pen, probably through the passage of time. Blue ink window.

Finally managed to straighten the tines, it was really scratchy and noisy, took a couple of days and inky fingers, trying with Gulf Blue.

Aaugh! I forgot my Pilot Prera slate gray. I have some Lamy Nexx pens too. I guess another photo must be taken. I have to make a new album too.

From a previous post image. Parker 45 Coronet fountain pen and 9mm pencil.

It is hard to distinguish it from the Flighter unless you enlarge the image and check the halo mark on the cap, but when you actually hold it in your hand, you will see that it is a completely different pen.

I forgot my Parker 51 and 45, so I shall also be adding another picture.

@Junebe, that’s the conundrum, I guess. Commando, Dauntless, Starlet- it’s a puzzle that depends on trim colors, number of jeweler’s rings on the cap, and possible other details that have escaped my notice. There’s a book on Waterman’s pens that I am looking for by Robert Tefft, but it was self published and hard to find. It was recommended by my friend Stewart.

What a great collection of grey pens! The variety of greys is super neat, from charcoal to resembling Herbin’s Gris Nuage. I also like your Jinhao with a blue cap, it gives it character and it’s uniquely yours! I love the color of the Prera.

I love the graphics on your first two pens, I always think these are fun. I also find it son interesting and cool that the grey of each pen is so different from the others. Thank you for the link, I forgot about the good Captain.

I love Gehas! Is that a 700? I’ve only had one scratchy cartridge filler, the others have been fabulous once cleaned up.

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.
    • Ceilidh
Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
