Thanks for the info.  I was really shocked when Pilot came up in connection to the Verve -- especially since I like the two Cross Solos I have so much (I'd dearly love to get a couple more of the colors, and even better if I could some different nib widths besides the two I have).

I've been around this hobby for a while and own a lot of pens but somehow have never been compelled by Cross.

The Peerless are worth it, as are the Townsends.  Really good nibs.

Looks like the Peerless is currently discontinued. I'll keep my eyes out for these going forward.
