I just got an e-mail from Ranga introducing a new pen material. It seems to be only available in a whitish color at this time.

PEEK is Poly Ether Ether Ketone. It is Thermo Plastic polymer. It is High strength Plastic with High Temperature resistance. It has outstanding chemical resistance and mechanical strength across a broad temperature range, low moisture uptake, solid fire performance, and good dimensional stability. It is used in aerospace, automotive, electrical, and medical industries. Because of its robustness, it is used to fabricate items the chemical and engineering industry. It is costly Plastic Material.

They are jumping on the peek and unicorn barf resin fad. They also have an aluminum pen that seems much better weight wise compared to the brass pen.

Unfortunately, I also noticed they raised prices on their website.

You can see the pen and meet Ranga team in a new video of Chawn talking with them at the Chennai Pen Show (Inked Happiness on YouTube).

Thanks for the link!

I don't think they have much choice with the ongoing reports of quality control issues with Ebonite rods. Though I still much prefer "ripple" ebonites, when the right acrylic "clown barf" pen comes along, I'll jump on it! It never hurts to have one in the collection.

Prices.....

I did have a chance to see the pens made of peek, ultem, brass, copper and aluminum. Was impressed with the ultem. It was great. Peek didn't appeal to me. They now have a group buy for the different materials. Let's see the response.

Ah that explains the price increase. Let's see if group buy prices increase as well. I do like most of their premium ebonites.

Peek is a cool material. I have a peek pen i eyedropper and it never burps on me.

I even tried holding the pen for a full hour in my hand to replicate a long writing session and it wrote fine.

I usually have a whatsapp message that mr kandan sends every month. So I get to see the group buys through that.

They also post the group buy form on Instagram.

Or otherwise you can directly email Mr kandan since you now know that the group buy is there.

Email id is mpkandan@yahoo.co.in
