Lamy Aion in ‘Deep Dark Blue’

So, I was just looking at the Lamy.com website for the UK.

I wanted to remind myself of the colour of the Aion in ‘Dark Green’.

But I found an intriguing new colour of Aion shown there - except that on the ‘UK’ section of the Lamy website the model in that colour is crossed-out, and not selectable - which means that Lamy refuses to sell it to us Brits 😡

This, like their refusal to sell us their LE inks in bottles, is a decision that I find to be both infuriating and baffling.

I appreciate that they might not wish to ‘waste’ money on producing physical marketing materials to display in UK bricks-&-mortar stores, but I can see no sense at all in not allowing UK online retailers to order as many of these pens as they think that they might be able to sell!

Perhaps Lamy’s Marketing Executives feel that the costs of shipping pens across all the way the English Channel from Germany are just too prohibitive 🤷‍♂️

No doubt Lamy’s Marketing Executives also think the same thing about the ‘huge costs’ associated with selling these pens in the ‘far away’ and ‘exotic’ market of a mysterious country that calls itself Deutschland, because it is crossed-out and unavailable on the section of Lamy.com for there too.

Anyway, if you are in the USA, Lamy is very happy to incur the costs of shipping these pens the ‘trivial’ distance across the Atlantic Ocean for distribution/sale in your country.

If you would like to have a look at the pen, to see whether it interests you, it can be found on the ‘US’ section of Lamy.com, here:

https://us-shop.lamy.com/en_us/fountain-pen-lamy-aion.html#nib_grade=7224

While you guys do that, I am now going to compose a very angry email to Lamy, to ask them to explain to me exactly what it was that we Europeans did to them to make them refuse to sell their LE inks (and some editions of their pen models) to us.

Well, I bought one from Cult Pens a couple of months ago (they still have the rollerball and ballpoint) and  a quick check shows several other UK stores have it in stock. I do hope knickers can now be untwisted and blood pressure restored.

Well, I shall go to the foot of our stairs!

Thank you for this

It seems then that the crossing-out of images on Lamy.com must only mean ‘Sold Out (in your territory)’, rather than ‘Trop belle pour toi!’

Wait! What? Are you skiting about getting cartridges? Down Under didn't even get that much.

I am still boycotting the pens cos I can't have ink to match. :crybaby:

And Dark Lilac was only stocked by one online store here. Gone within days.

Will work for pens...

Ah, come on ‘manda; you already know full-well that I’m a whingeing pom, solipsistic ‘special pleading’ is beaten into us from an early age - what else would you expect? ;)

On a non-flippant note, has Lamy deigned to ship its reformulated ‘Dark Lilac’ to retailers in ‘stralia?

Or is it still treating you like Unpersons?

Just one store got Dark Lilac. One. Pffft. Gone.

Seriously. Did you get cartridges of the LE inks?

Well, isn’t that just a bloody kick in the pants?

’Stop yer moaning you lot; we sent you some, didn’t we?’

🙄😠

To be fair, I did get my grubby little mitts on ‘fully’ five T10 cartridges of the 2016 LE ‘Dark Lilac’ and five T10 cartridges of the 2017 LE ‘Petrol’, as part of the point-of-sale packs of their respective LE Safaris.

As such, from an Antipodean perspective, it’s probably fair to say that I ‘don’t know I’m born’, eh?

Ahhh... not Violet Blackberry and Pink Cliff.

I haven’t actually personally seen any examples of either of those pens in bricks-&-mortar stores here yet.

My experience of the previous LE inks is that they were only available here when bought inside the point-of-sale pack with the corresponding Safari; we couldn’t buy packs of the cartridges on their own.

If one of this year’s Safari LEs had been entirely made out of that shiny ‘Blackberry’ colour, I’d have been all-over it like white on rice!
But, as it is, I don’t fancy the look of it with that different-colour grip-section. And that fact would make me reluctant to buy a pen with a package of cartridges included in the package.
The Pathetic Fallacy is strong in me; if I were to buy the pen just in order to get the cartridges and flog the pen, I would ‘feel sorry for it’, and ‘guilty’ for treating it so ‘uncaringly’

I’d also snap yer hand off if you offered me the chance to buy a bottle - or cartridges - of the ‘Violet Blackberry’ ink here; but it is not available for sale to us 😭
