giant TWSBI converter

Recommended Posts

Never heard before, but recently stumbled over the mentioning of a "giant TWSBI converter" with 1.5 ml.

Do you have one? Are they good?

Can you replace a Schmidt K5 with them?

And finally, where do you buy them?

Thank you!

I think that is the one that goes in the TWSBI Swipe. It is their only pen that can use a converter or cartridge. It has to be a bit fat to hold that volume of ink, so I am unsure about your pen.

$4 from Goulet Pens, fits the SWIPE

Also from Goulet Pens:

"This replacement spring-loaded push-style cartridge converter by TWSBI is specifically designed for the TWSBI SWIPE.

While the opening is standard international size, the overall diameter of the converter is too large to fit other fountain pens besides the SWIPE"

The Twsbi Swipe can take two types of converters, both provided by Twsbi: one has an internal spring and fills with a pushing action; the other has a conventional twist system. If a pen uses standard-size cartridges and has a wide enough barrel you can use any one of the Twsbi converters.

That is exactly what I eventually plan to do. But everybody (seller und reviewer) just copied and pasted the description of TWSBI and nobody seems to have measured it.

So, if you have a TWSBI Swipe nearby, could you please measure it.

Thank you.

I have a Swipe. The converter will NOT fit other pens. See photo. The one at the front is another international standard mouthed converter

@Runnin_Ute Thank you, that is helpful.

It will fit my Dodeca (see the post about pens from penturners). I posted after your reply there.

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.

Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
