Mixing Sailor Jentle Ink Yamadori with Sailor Shikiori Ink Yamadori

Hi,

I have an old 50ml bottle of Sailor Jentle Ink Yamadori with about 20ml left in it and a new 20ml bottle of Sailor Shikiori Yamadori ink.

First question; are they the same colour and have the same sheen?

Second question; are they miscible?

Third question; would you pour the new 20ml bottle into the older Jentle bottle or keep them separate?

Thanks.

you have them with you right now, why dont you simply do some ink swatches and find out ?

Why would you want to mix them ? what do you want to achieve from that ?

Absolutely no. The most unwise and unnecessary action IMO

Thanks.

Why do ask? The 20ml bottle is unopened and if somebody already knows the answer it saves me opening it and doing ink swatches.

Why do I want to mix them? If they are the same ink and miscible then I can rationalise my bottles of ink and I like the Jentle bottle over the Shikiori bottle.

Thank you for your opinion, there is less risk in not mixing.

Even if they are the same ink, the age of one ink can cause degradation in the ink which you wouldn't want, and likewise, the inks can suffer color shift over time, changing colors in the bottle slightly over time (depending on the ink). Inks can also gather contaminants over time, and it's better to avoid preserving those contaminants to a new bottle if you can. If you want to continue using the older bottle, it would be safer if you first used up the old ink, washed and dried the bottle thoroughly, and then added the new ink, to minimize the amount of contamination.

As far as I know, they are the same ink. Just rebranding.

I would not mix them. Better keep potential germs in one of the bottles and not risking contaminating all the ink.

Thanks, AndyYNWA, arcfide, Particular_Song3539, for your replies. I've done a bit of Google research and it seems they are the same ink though can't find any actual comparison between the two. I'll take your good advice and not mix the two bottles. It is one of my favourite inks but sadly now quite expensive. I have another unopened 50ml Jentle bottle of it so not an immediate worry. With my collection of ink bottles now approaching 30 I was trying to reduce numbers.
