Beautiful everyday fountain pen?

I really love the look of the (1) Leonardo Momento zero blue Sorrento, and the (2) Leonardo Earth Magic 2.0 RT Momento Zero Grande Dutch Pen Show Special Edition.

I can't seem to find the Earth Magic 2.0 for sale anywhere.

I wish the blue Sorrento was in a zero grande, but it's still a little bigger than my Sailor Pro.

At the very least. Does anyone need a ream's worth of capacity?

I think the point is not capacity itself, but convenience.

If what you write is important to note down instantly, then you want to be sure the pen won't run out of ink mid-sentence.

When I was at grad school, I used to carry two pens, sometimes three (in one man-one pen times), because I would take many notes. If I run out of ink mid-class, I didn't want to stop to fill or switch cartridges while the professor was speaking, even switching pens was an inconvenience.

At the time I was terribly budget constrained, but I would have loved to only have a 2ml piston filler so that I could be confident that if I filled in the morning it would last through the whole day. Specially during exams.

There may be other uses where you want to be sure you don't run out of ink mid-sentence. Modern secretaries no longer use pens, and I suppose journalists simply record speeches, but, nevertheless, I do not know all use cases.

If you are to be ephemeral, leave a good scent.

Graf Von Faber Castell Guilloche series if you are using frequently, otherwise it makes one mad with quick vaporization of water therefore needing refill in few days.

Pilot Falcon as used by Neil Gaiman.

Waterman Hemisphere as used by Stephen King

Caran d'ache Madison as used by Tom Stoppard

Parker 51 as used by Dylan Thomas.

Lamy 2k/mb146 - enough ink in the tank for 2 weeks of uninterrupted writing.

I agree with this. The Pilot E95s Elite is the smoothest writing pen I have ever used or tried. I didn't mention it earlier because the converter is small. To get capacity the cartridges are best. It is a fine pen and incredibly aesthetically beautiful.

Thanks for the heads up on the converters.  I keep looking at the E95 Elites but a pen that is effectively cartridge only is a deal breaker....

As for the topic of "beautiful everyday pens", that would be a tough decision.  Clearly my demi-size Plum 51 would be right up there, but so would my two most expensive pens -- the Pelikan M405 Stresemann and the M405 Blue Black....  And the blue Parker Laidtone Duofold, and the Red Shadow Wave Vacumatic, and the 2nd Generation Azure Blue Pearl Vacumatic (I think it's a Slender) with the matching striped jewels.

And, and, and....  (Sorry, the Libra in me just went into overdrive.... 🤷‍♀️)

I thought those were called Con B  converters? I thought Con 40s had a piston and agitators.

No problem, I get stuff confused often enough. I just wanted to make sure I had the right information.

By small, I meant it isn't a huge capacity, but it is large enough to write for a long time. I think it uses the Con-40 converter. I wouldn't want you to miss out on one of the most beautiful pens made that is one of the most beautiful writing pens ever made. I have purchased two of these pens. Both are better writers (for me) than any other pen I have ever used or tried. That is a bold statement, but it is true in my experience. They are not the kind of pen that is going to be like writing with a pencil. This pen writes like writing on ice. It is so smooth and slippery the nib glides across the paper without effort (at least in the two I have, and others have said similar things).

Sounds like my first Parker 45, which I found in a box of pens at a little antiques shop outside Coudersport, PA.  It was my first semi-vintage pen, and the first one with a gold nib.  And oh MY was that M nib on it smooth....  And your description of the E95 Elites sound very much of my description of writing with that 45 the first time I inked it up....

I didn't even know what it was, other than that it was a Parker, and had to post pix of it in the Parker Forum, going, "What is this pen model?"  And people told me what it was, and also pointed me to a video online Tyler Dahl had made on how to disassemble the nib unit.  And that pen sent me diving head first down the vintage rabbit hole, because of what a nice writer it was....

Honestly, it didn't occur to me until earlier today that some fountain pens aren't meant to be "everyday" pens. I know I'm leaving this a bit broad, but I'm hoping for some suggestions as to a good everyday fountain pen in the $200-$500 range.

Personally, I think the $33 TWSBI ECO that I use every day is a gorgeous pen. That being said, if I could, I'd get myself a Leonardo Momento Zero Grande Blue Marina Capri with a stainless steel nib for $240. And if I get it, it would replace the ECO I use every day to write in my Filofax with an EF nib.

There are a lot of really pretty pens out there but on principle I refuse to pay a bunch of money for plastic... No matter how neat it looks. I'm just cheap like that.

I'm into that. I even have a TWSBI 580. But a couple hundred bucks for plastic? Yikes.

And now I know the Pilot Petit exists! Cool.

Have you thought about the Opus88 Pocket Mini?  It can hold 1.5ml of ink and has a clear barrel so you can easily keep an eye on the ink levels.
