Can a Jinhao 51A nib fit in a Wing Sung 601?

I really like the Wing Sung 601. As Parker "51" knockoffs go, I like it the best.  It has a decent weight and the plastic feels better quality than a Hero 616.

The one thing I am not too keen on is the nib. I own 3 of these and they all feel a little scratchy.

On the other end of the spectrum we have the Jinhao 51A.  I like the body on this pen, and I really like the nib. Way smoother than the Wing Sung 601. Not a huge fan of the cap, though.

Does anyone know if you can put a Jinhao 51a nib on a Wing Sung 601? That would make a very nice franken-pen for me.

Yes, you can. Both pens use 18.5mm nibs.

I was impressed by how easy it was to swap nibs on the Wing Sun 601. The one it came with was really scratchy, but I ordered some different grinds for under $10 and was very pleased with each of the options. I just have to remind myself to do it before I ink up the pen :)

It was fun to replace the plastic grip with a $15 StPenPPS(?) [akin to Pen BBS?] stainless replacement too.

One of my favorite hooded nibs is on the $2 Jinhao 911, but I didn't see an easy way of removing the nib from the pen. Oh well.

Happy writing.

I had to get some replacement nibs for my 911.

At the site they demonstrated how to change the nibs: They actually used a fingernail-clipper to extract the nib.

I tried that and it works. But the old nib will be ruined by that. (Mine was already ruined, so no problem for me)

Thanks for the info @Brandywine. I give you credit for investigating and repairing a pen that most probably would have thrown away given the price. I bought a bunch of those 911s to give to my students. Really great writers!

I will try not to need the nail clippers though :)   Have a good week.
