👍🏻The Specials are great writers.  Mine's been inked for months now.

So good. I should ink mine soon. I really like the black jewel on the cap, more than the ones on the regular caps.

Top 5 (in no particular order) of 30 currently inked pens:

Parker Duofold Centennial IM, RO Rose Gold Antiqua

Parker Duofold Lady needlepoint, MB Cool Grey

Pelikan M800 needlepoint, Kuretake Shikon

Platinum PKB 2000, Platinum Cyclamen Pink

Waterman 52 EF, Herbin Bleu Pervenche

A steel nibbled Esterbrook Estie retails for 175.

OMG,:yikes: fifteen years ago, $15 is what a used Estie cost....and every noobie was told get an Estie or a Safari, until everyone got an Estei and drove the price  up to $30.

But Esties are at least easy to restore.

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

The Farmboy is speaking of the modern incarnation of Esterbrook.

but original J series pens are often seen in the 75 range with a steel nib.

And I picked up a couple of Esties recently (a black LJ and a grey mackerel J -- both with 9xxx nibs) for $10 and $5 respectively, at an estate sale company's showroom sale (plus some no-name lever filler with a hooded nib for an additional $5) plus sales tax....

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

  • 2 weeks later...

I picked up a functional MK1 51 for $20 and another for $35 at a weekly flea market.  I splurged on the later. Since the cap was pristine. The treasures are out there, just not everyday.

I bought from a neighbor who knew I collected fountain pens, a P-51, black and 'silver' made in England, two Flighters a 15 made in France, and 51 made in the USA, for €20, she paid €4 for each.

Add a silver  P-75 as my first fountain pen (that didn't get stolen) back in '70/71,

A '37 Vac, and some three P-45's...I suddenly have a collection of Parker's, including a P-21 English designed (bottleneck body) and made. And a few Flighter BP and a couple Jotter BP and MP's and a P-75 silver one BP/MP with both a regular jotter filler and it came with a mechanical pencil jotter style apparatus, that I still have, with it's lead.

That hatched P-75 BP/MP was not called the Classic when i bought it, it was refereed to as a P-75 BP.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
