Amazon Japan prices on this particular KOP have been fluctuating.  I purchased it in June for $356, shipping in 2 months, which was exactly when it shipped.  I looked at the price when it shipped, and it was back down to what I paid.  I was going to post it here, but before I could it jumped up.  Here is the Camelcamel chart of new third party sellers low prices.  So good catch on this one, and if someone wants to buy this & the price has jumped up, put a price watch on for a third party seller on https://camelcamelcamel.com

Thanks for the info. Quite the useful extension. Seems I missed the $350 by just a little.

I can’t believe I just did this but I ordered. I’ve always wanted to try a KoP and this is a very good price considering how much it usually goes for even in its home market. I also have not been interested in many other pens lately so to still lust after one and to see it at such a good price, well…yeah I went for it.

Are the KoP third party large converters still available anywhere?

Thanks for the heads up, I ended up buying this pen since it's been on my list of pens I would like to own for a long time.

No 3rd party large capacity Sailor converters.  A Sailor cartridge is as large a capacity as you will get.

I think Shawn Newton used to make some, but I don’t see any listed on the Newton Pens site. Someone on eBay also used to sell one but they seem to have disappeared, and there is a Reddit post showing a DIY one that someone said they were thinking of selling. Either way I just ordered the Sailor pen maintenance kit and will use the cartridge from that.

There was a fellow in Australia that made extra-huge cartridges so that you can eye-dropper a KOP and get quadruple the ink capacity of the Sailor converter.  I have a couple of them.  I would have to look at home for his ebay handle.

If you could let me know when you get a chance, that would be great! The Jinhao 9019 has spoiled me with its massive converter. :)

This is the Australia selller who I bought one from and picture of it.  It cost me around $50 USD.  He has not listed any in months. It hold about 2.5 ml.

That works great.  The cleaning kit is generally less than $20 USD.

Thanks! I’ll keep an eye out to see if they get back to listing them.

For anyone wanting the Sailor cleaning kit, our favorite Amazon.com seller of all things Sailor, Amazon Japan, has it this morning for $6.25

Wow, great find! I just ordered three. And I had ordered one already from Endless Pens at $15 which was the best deal I could find at the time.

What is this? I have a 21kt 1911 with a converter. What'll this do for me?

It is designed to clean Sailor pens, but people mentioned it in this discussion because among the items in the kit is a reinforced cartridge that some people like using with the KOP.

I didn't think twice about hitting "buy it now" just for the converter.

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.
    • Ceilidh
Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
