Differences

What are the differences between the Mahjon P136, Wing Sung 629, Wing Sung 630 and the Jinhao X159?

I own an X159 so I know that one does not have a piston filler.  I use a syringe anyway.  The other three seem to be pretty much identical. Are there quality differences, or size differences or something?

Just to run through the obvious differences, the P136 resembles a MB 146 in shape, styling and size; the WS 629 ditto to either the Sailor Pro Gear (flat top version) or 1911 version and the WS 630 to the MB 149. The 630 has an impressively large nib, like your X159, and is the largest of the three. I’d rank the build quality of all three as roughly the same. The P136 offers a 1.1mm stub nib that is very nice. The 629 and 630 can be purchased with 14K nibs in a wider selection of nib sizes. If you are considering one and like a big fat pen, get the 630. If you’d like something slightly smaller, I’d suggest the P136, which I think has a slightly better build quality than the WS pens and a wider choice of colors.

Thanks for that detailed description.

The X159 is considerably cheaper than the others.  Is that just down to it being a cartridge converter?

I have two X159s.  The cap of one shattered (rough handling 🙁).  Does the extra cost of the others give you more robust plastic?  Or are they roughly the same?
