Ferris Wheel Press – Storied blue

The brand is known for its savvy marketing and elegant ink bottles.

This ink belongs to the Bookshoppe series, with Peter Moss (Green) Wonderland in Coral.

You can read more about it here:

It’s a nod to Hatchard’s the oldest bookstore in England.

In a nutshell, this dry ink was most enjoyable with a B nib, but more specifically for art work, i.e. washes.  Otherwise as I prefer water resistance and saturated inks, for me it's a pass.

Let's start with the delicious chroma:

It doesn't like Hammermill 20 lb with almost all nibs:

Washed off kitty after 10 seconds under running water (nice effects though)

and finally an art work, a nod to the ink's name and the nursery rhyme.

· Pens used: Pilot Kakuna Ef/Stub, Lamy Safari (EF/F/M/B), Kanwrite Ultra-flex.

· What I liked: Lovely pale colour for writing poetry, and enjoyed doing washes with it.

· What I did not like: In general, I prefer inks are water resistant or more saturated.

· What some might not like: Dry ink. Flow issues with flex nibs, it doesn't like cheap paper.

· Shading: Yes.

· Ghosting: On cheap paper

· Bleed through: Same as above.

· Flow Rate: Wettish. It didn’t flow well with Kanwrite.

· Lubrication: Dry

· Nib Dry-out: None

· Start-up: None

· Saturation: Unsaturated

· Shading Potential: Massive.

· Sheen: None

· Spread / Feathering / Woolly Line: No

· Nib Creep / “Crud”: No.

· Staining (pen): No

· Clogging: No

· Cleaning: Easy

· Water resistance: It doesn’t really make a difference does it?

· Availability: 3X5 ml (3 different inks), 38/85 ml bottles.

Please don't hesitate to share your experience, writing samples or any other comments. The more the merrier

Seems like a trend with FWP inks...lovely shades, but the rest...meh.

I agree :)

Pale.  Kind of uninspiring.  Qualities listed are those I do not like.

But I love the artwork, and the detailed, thorough review that saved me from this ink.  Thanks, @yazeh!

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

I know of some who really like it :)

Thanks and most welcome. It truly shines in a recent wash I did. Though I haven't finished the piece yet, so we'll see ;)

 Exactly this!

Thank you, @yazeh, for all the hard work behind the review, the review itself, and especially for the artwork - always fun!

Thanks for the lovely review! I do like how this ink looks in more copious applications, I bet it'd look great in my exceptionally wet Opera Master (the medium nib writes wetter than any broad I've ever used) and seems like it'd be easier to clean out of a vacuum/power filler than other inks :)

Yes it really looks lovely with broad nibs, so I guess it'll be great for you wet pen :)

Looks like Three Steamboats more saturated?

I don't know. I haven't tried that one :)

Thank you @yazeh for this review and for the nice drawings!

As you and many others already mentioned, this ink looks way too pale for daily writing but has potential for drawing. For use in washes, I will take a saturated ink that I dilute by myself to the intended intensity  - this is more easy than concentrating a pale ink ...

One life!

It's a dreamy colours for washes, if you look my at my review of Fox Red, you see the depth of it :)

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
