Here's a quick comparison between Edelstein Sapphire that's been in a Momento Zero for a while.  There's about 1/4 of a converter left.  It's darker than the out of the bottle dip pen examples I just made.

I have started leaving pens full for awhile, because I like the way ink looks after it’s been in there for a month or two.

Top 5 (in no particular order) of 30 currently inked pens:

Parker Duofold Centennial IM, RO Rose Gold Antiqua

Parker Duofold Lady needlepoint, MB Cool Grey

MontBlanc 1441 F, Monteverde Brown Sugar

Platinum PKB 2000, Platinum Cyclamen Pink

Waterman 52 EF, Herbin Bleu Pervenche

WOW!  That's AMAZING!

I don't think I've ever gotten sheen out of Kon-peki!

Hi ISR

Kon-Peki is a good sheener on the right paper.  Here is a pic from last year on Iroful paper...

Sometimes it doesn't have to be that long....  Sometimes the ink settles in, within a day or two....

I thought Sailor Manyo Konagi would be it but it's bluer, and doesn't "glow" under fluorescent light.

Under fluorescent light. Slight glow.  Not as pronounced as under my LED light.  But then Konagi is not really a sheening ink it has a pinkish glow around the letters.

Mine is mixed with Golden Lapis, because there was so much shimmer left in the feed, it seemed a shame to waste it. The two colors together are a bit warmer than just the Sapphire on its own. I am happy to send you a sample of the Sapphire so that you can revisit it without regret.

It’s wonderful paper, but it’s also the most expensive I have tried in awhile. It comes in a 30 sheet package, as opposed to the 50 most papers come in. It may be a better buy in a notebook.

In searching for blue inks that wouldn't dry completely matte, I found some old writing with Edelstein Sapphire...eh. Maybe in a very concentrated form, but straight from the tap isn't for me :D

But your mix with Golden Lapis sounds interesting 🤔

I can check my blue swatches and see if I find any inks that are shiny. What inks do you consider light/medium blue, so I can compare hues?

I found Monteverde Capri blue and Horizon blue really nice too, I added these two to my purchase list (you had sent me samples, thank you!) :)

Medium blue...well that's very vague, actually anything from lightish blue to Waterman Serenity blue darkness (a very poor choice for demonstrating darkness of an ink!). I would like to find the same effect as some black inks, but with blue...it seems blue inks are either matte, or give into sheening?

I'm having some difficulty understanding Matte inks vs. Shiny.  What would be an example of an ink that dries shiny in a way that's not a sheen?

My comment on Horizon Blue is that Horizon blue is a wet version of Waterman Blue.

What was wrong with the Sailor #743 you told me about?  It's a nice medium blue.

IIRC, Waterman Blue, Asa-Gao, Edelstein Sapphire, Aurora Blue and many others, all look the same after being in the pen for a few days.

A Blue ink in that didn't seem to darken as much  as the others was Diamine Sapphire Blue, if you can stand the moldy smell.

As long as I'm talking about olfactory disappointments, I thought Noodler's Liberty's Elysium was a great shading ink with a light blue color, until I opened the bottle.  I put it in the 629Au and Wow , every time I take the cap off, this strong chemical smell wafts up to greet me..... I don't know what they put in that ink...

Here's A Question:  How do you guys hold your average pen.  It seems I have my index finger on in the middle of the section and my thumb on the area between the threads and the step down (or step up) or on the threads like with a Wing Sung 630, with the pen resting between the tip and the knuckle of my middle finger, (closer to the knuckle).

It’s weird, but it works for me. The usual grip hurts.

I've seen your grip before PGC, it is unusual.  I tried it and can write that way but I don't have the control I have with my standard grip.

What's Sailor Wonder Blue?

It’s the ink that came with my 🐧 pen. It was made especially for that pen by Sailor. Happy to send you a sample if you’d like to try it. It’s a royal blue.

Which pen was that?

How about a pic of the ink bottle?

Edit:

Now that I'm thinking about it, I remember seeing a box with a sailor pen & ink in it....

Edit 2: I remember now, its the one with the strange shaped ink bottle.... I have a translation of the text on the bottle somewhere...

Edit 3:  I found the pic.... hahaha

I have! I've been using it all week in a dry Wing Sung, which was a good match. It's like a lighter version of regular Sailor blue. Quite an interesting ink, that's the one that prompted my interrogation about possibly not matte drying blue inks. Then it's unobtainium so 😭
(more on that later, I need to experiment some more)

I’ll see if there’s anything close in my swatch book, either in color or behavior.

That’s a beautiful pen ! 👍😀 But you’re killing me with all the different paper…🤪   I can’t keep up.  😱.
I just ordered Yu Sari loose leaf paper.  It looks very promising .  30 pages of A5.  Perfect for a ring notebook. 😀

I don’t know how wise trying to keep up is, I go pretty hard on hobby shopping.

Daolin paper is pretty good and rather inexpensive, but it’s no Cosmo or TR.  I got it in Sanrio licensed stationery for the Chinese market. It’s not as coated as the Japanese made Sanrio paper.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
