Hello fellow FPNers,

I am considering buying a pen which the seller has described as a "Waterman 52", but I noticed that the clip is attached near the top of the cap (please refer to the attached images).

I know the Waterman 52v has a higher-mounted clip like the pen on sale, but all of the other Waterman 52's I have seen so far show the clip attached lower down on the cap.

Could someone please tell me if the Waterman 52 ever came with a higher-mounted clip?

Is the pen for sale actually a Waterman 52?

Or is it some sort of Waterman frankenpen?

Your advice would be much appreciated!

Best,

John

the seller should show you a photo of the flat end of the barrel where the number 52, if it is, is imprinted

Hi MarcoA63, thanks for the tip.

The seller did have a photo of the barrel end which had "52" embossed but I didn't attach it to my FPN post...my bad 🥴

Hi 'fast fox' how did it end?

Hi MarcoA63,

Apologies for the slow reply; I got a bit sidetracked.

I didn't end up keeping that pen. The seller graciously allowed me to return it.

I did however subsequently buy a 52 in even better condition from another seller for about the same price!

So it all ended well! :D

Thanks for the info (I only used B&W film and learned to process that).   Boy -- the stuff I learn here!  Just continually astounded at the depth and breadth of knowledge in this community! Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

It just wasn't likely to have been Kodachrome.  It would have been the films I referred to as "other color films." (Kodachrome is not a generic term for color film. It is a specific film that produces transparencies, or slides, by a process not used for any other film. There are other color trans

@Ceilidh -- Well, I knew people who were photography majors in college, and I'm pretty sure that at least some of them were doing photos in color, not just B&W like I learned to process.  Whether they were doing the processing of the film themselves in one of the darkrooms, or sending their stuff out to be processed commercially?  That I don't actually know, but had always assumed that they were processing their own film. Kodachrome 25 was the most accurate film for clinical photography and was used by dermatologists everywhere. I got magnificent results with a Nikon F2 and a MicroNikkor 60 mm lens, using a manually calibrated small flash on a bracket. I wish there were a filter called "Kodachrome 25 color balance" on my iPhone camera.
