Noodler's Gold & Limonite (2022 Colorado Pen Show)

Thought I would throw up some scribblings in this ink as FountainPenCompanion tells me that there aren't reviews for this ink yet.

Overall, I am very impressed with this ink.  There is enough complexity that will have me revisit this in different pens to see how it changes.  I've tried it on old TR68, Sanzen TR52, Rhodia, and Exceed paper.  It performed well on all of them.

The color in my photos is more orange than I see in real life.  Its a brown that shades towards the yellow-side of brown.  I get a hint of olive green color every once in a while and in the heavy application using a brush.

Previously, I've been critical of Noodler's performance when it comes to dry times and smearing. This ink does a better job and is not a concern for me.  I am happy to have it in my colleciton.

Wow that's just gorgeous. This looks like a better version of Golden Brown. I wonder what the chroma would look like.

Is it bulletproof?

Thanks, @Aditlojs!  This is my kind of color.  It looks like it was made for the Colorado Pen Show, which might mean it will shortly become unobtainium - Goulet don't have it, Vanness are out of stock...  But I put it on my list anyway.  Really appreciate your review.

Interesting color.  Am I seeing sheening in that square in the upper right hand corner?

And it's too bad that Vanness is out of stock because I was about to possibly putting in an order for other stuff as well....

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Take a look here (no affiliation, but they were the vendor at the CPS)

Not exactly sheen.  It's not shiny like sheen.   But there is more going on there for sure. I get a hint of green in that swatch.

Thank you for this review, it looks like a good color match to use in a Pelikan white tortoise.

I hadn't thought of that but would agree.

Being an LE, you won't have to worry about color variation in subsequent batches. :lticaptd:

  • 1 month later...

According to the Instagram (is it run by luxury-brands?)

It'll be an ongoing new colour

And the bottle doesn't say water resistant, so I guess no special properties?

according to Vanness it is permanent:

Gold and Limonite, the eureka color of the Colorado mining. A gorgeous shading brown that is also permanent.

Ooooh

However, according to a reviewer on the same page, its water resistant. Go figure!

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
