3rd grade. I even got a bunch of my students interested in my fountain pens, so much that nearly half the class got their parents to order them one. Mainly Jinhao 82 and Hongdian Black Forest models. I showed them how to clean their pens and refill their cartridges and they got to choose inks from my collection. Diamine Hope Pink was a popular choice.

So many inky fingers!

That is wonderful! When I was in third grade we all used fountain pens.

@PBWilson1970 -- I got a Dark Dusk Safari a while back.  The color really spoke to me.  I ended up getting it from Vanness Pens because I was able to swap out one of the "standard" nibs that that model comes in for a black nib (I just thought it would look better with such a dark color barrel and clip than a standard steel one).  But I ended up just getting an M nib for it.

Of course, then -- right after showing it to someone at something I was at in May, I lost it. :crybaby: And ended up buying another one....  Which of course meant that I had to figure out what else to get to get to the threshold for free shipping a second time -- which meant a bunch MORE ink bottles & ink samples that I have yet to even try.... :wallbash:

Ha! I've been there with the "gotta add a few things to get free shipping" spiral! Fun to try new inks and pens out, but murder on any kind of budget!

I agree that the Dark Dusk is a really great color. To my eye, there's a good deal of purple in there and I tried to match my inks to that color to the best of my ability. First I thought Bilberry might work or Walk Across Vistula, but I settled on Diamine Sapphire Blue which leans toward purple and I'm pretty happy with it!

Oh and I LOVE how Vanness and Cult Pens offer nib swaps with a new Lamy fountain pen without any extra cost. I got my Dark Dusk with a 1.1 stub and I wish they offered their stub nibs n black. That would look great!

I just had a disastrous moment of weakness:

...an Onoto Magna ebonite (LE) with an 18K nib in <OB> grind, ordered directly from Onoto in the UK (which I swore I wouldn't ever do) 😬

Let's hope I won't get hit with exorbitant 'customs brokerage fees' by the courier, on top of the... not so nice price of the pen itself 😶

GLAD you survived one more of Life's challenges!

There sure are many "survivors here on FPN...

Sailor Shikiori Setsugetsu Soraha Harusora <EF>

Probably here tomorrow!  Somewhat unexpected purchase, but I’m giving my Shikiori Tsukuyo Minamo Shimoyo <F> to a close friend who is leaving the area.  The one I’m gifting is a very elegant pen and a superb writer!  Hope the new one, with 14K nib, meets the usual Sailor standard.

The new pen looks to be good value compared to, say, a newly-purchased 3776.  🙂

That's an interesting color.  But I have to ask -- is it my imagination, or is the barrel (and just slightly, at that) translucent...?

I think so - confirmation will follow when it arrives!

It is supposed to represent a clear blue Spring sky...

My son has that model, and yes the barrel is very slightly translucent.

Well, that would be a hard pass for me, then.  I like pens that have ink windows in the barrel, but tend to dislike transparent/translucent barrels.

I do have a few Noodler's Charlie pens -- but they came free with bottles of ink.  And I do have one of them inked up at the moment, with Noodler's Blue Ghost (the ink that's only visible under UV light) because I need to make myself a new hard-copy password notebook, after the problems I had with my laptop crashing a couple of weeks ago (including having to reset the password on my Apple account AS WELL as the one to unlock my laptop -- and the irony is that during the increasingly extended wait to be able to do that?  I REMEMBERED the old password to unlock the laptop.... :wallbash:  And now, a couple of times in the past week started to type THAT one in, then was going, "No, that's the OLD one...."

Ruth, when it comes to passwords, I stopped using them years ago.

Now I use pass phrases. Some of them are old favorite book titles with #s and symbols (like my favorite, the "tilde" and my oldest sister's birthday and month. At one time I used my first home phone # or my address when I was a kid together.

They don't have to be super complex and you can leave a stack of books (using the titles as pass phrases) right there on your shelf with the sibling's name.

Finally, because my memory is (still) quite good, one of my pass phrases is 22 characters in length. I figure that if someone can get that one then they can get in to any account I have anyway. LOL!

Oh, I do much the same thing -- stuff like song titles or lyrics, but of course replacing letters with numbers or other characters.  The problem with opening the laptop now, though, is that right after I jumped through hoops to reset the account and "unlock" passwords, I REMEMBERED my old "unlock" one and have caught myself a couple of times in the past week starting to type that one in.... :headsmack:  Don't have any as long as 22 characters, but an old one for one website was 25 characters (I just checked).  Oh, and do have one that's 22 characters after all -- but don't remember now what website it's for.... :wallbash: And I really do need to reset the one for the PayPal account from when I had trouble with that site a year or two back -- my husband came up with a replacement one that is, IME, really lame....  Sigh.

P3n&1nK is typical of my M.O.

Anyway I am waiting on an Aurora 888(k), Aurettas Mk1 and Mk 4. Two coming from Italy and one from Jordan so won't arrive for a while.

Unfortunately. I had to return the Fend I bought- the aerometric cage was stuck in the barrel, and I couldn’t get it out without risking a crack. I am now waiting for a blue MB 310S with a fine nib. I’m excited!  😊

Top 5 (in no particular order) of 20 currently inked pens:

MontBlanc for BMW Starwalker IM, mystery grey ink left in converter

Brute Force Designs Pequeño Ultraflex EF, Journalize Horsehead Nebula

Pilot Custom 743 <FA>, Oblation Sitka Spruce

Pilot Elite Ciselé <F>, Colorverse Dokdo

Platinum PKB 2000, Platinum Cyclamen Pink

always looking for penguin fountain pens and stationery

@nib.to.nob That Black Matte Pelikan was on my radar! But last Friday I ordered the black with gold trim M800 because of a great sale price. I may have to forego getting this gorgeous pen you have ordered.

You won't regret getting the black with gold trim. I would not buy the matte black if I didn't already own the Standard black M800. It's so classy

Preordered the pelikan souverän M809 matte black. 🥳

I think we both have a long way still ahead waiting :)

I ordered it back in 29 October based on erroneous information that it'd be out on the 30th, and now I see we're rather talking about the end of November... Couple that with Black Friday frenzy and the subsequent shipping bottlenecks, and I'm hoping we're getting it by Xmas 😛

I've already ordered to many pens the last months. So a little wait won't hurt 😊
