Lamy Crystal Inks

I just got Azurite, my first blurple, to try (been wanting to try Peridot but already have several inks in that color range). The ink itself seems pretty similar to my other Lamy inks in terms of behavior and nothing to justify the higher price, plus it lacks the wonderful Lamy bottle. The cardboard 'collar' holding the bottle in place was stained all around the opening and the ink level in the bottle seemed surprisingly low yet the amount of stain didn't seem to correspond to the low level but maybe to bottle isn't normally filled to the brim and I didn't have a problem filling the Parker 180 I using to test it.

I think the big selling point/stand out of Azurite is its really strong green-gold sheen. You may or may not like it, but it's not something I've seen in standard Lamy inks(which IME outside the LEs are largely not saturated enough to give any sheen unless conditions are perfect).

The green sheen is the reason I bought it. Blurple has never appealed to me but I figured I'd try it just for that.

I have had the Lamy Crystal Inks since they first became available.  I have found the inks to be excellent in all regards, and also a very good value.  

 

I am very pleased that Lamy has created the Crystal Ink line of inks.

Lamy Crystal Agate is a very, very dry light gray that shades well.

one drop of glycerine...not more will make it less dry.

This is Lamy Crystal Topaz, shades on good paper, not a shading monster.

The other ink is Quink Black. Click to make bigger....in I don't pay for Imgur, I can crop.  Mondi 100g is a very good paper.

Lamy Crystal Topaz is my daily writing ink, one of my favourites in a Lamy with a fine nib. Flows freely with no problems.
