Japanpost EMS price increase

Japanpost has drastically increased shipping prices, e.g. to the US from 25 to 40 USD (approximate).

Same to other directions - just checked France - same here.

So, expect that the Japanese sellers need to charge you a lot more.

Thanks for sharing the information!

Most of the Japanese eBay sellers from whom I would trust to order gold-nibbed fountain pens have long insisted on using only DHL for international delivery (and charging accordingly for it) anyway; but I guess we'll see if this has a flow-on effect.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

Depending on the price of the product, I'm still willing to spend for EMS. I've had too many problems with DHL. Even when things go well with DHL, they have a hard time locating me. If they delivered to PO Boxes I'd have far fewer complaints, most likely.

Probably only a matter of time until DHL raises prices, too. They have to buy fuel like anyone else.

Parcel forwarders might get new clients as their prices for DHL/Fedex/... are not very different from EMS now. These forwarders send a lot of parcels, therefore, they get huge reductions.
