Converter / Dry Ink issue UPDATE

Just out of curiosity, I inked up three Lamy Joy 1.5 mm pens, all with Lamy Z28 converters, and let them sit for a month (capped and untouched) with a 15 degrees downward tilt off of horizontal (nib down), average temp 85 degrees, average humidity 60%. The nibs had all been rinsed multiple times to test various sample inks. The Lamy Joy 1.5 mm pen/converter that gave me problems during the last go-around was not used in this test and set aside for the time being. The inks I chose for this test were:

Lamy Blue

Pilot Iroshizuku Fuyu-gaki

Jacques Herbin Orange Soleil

I was pleasantly surprised that after a month of sitting, all of the pens started on the very first stroke! I have heard on these forums that the orange inks can be particularly difficult to deal with. I think that with the low price point of these Lamy Joy pens/converters, you may eventually run into a defective nib/converter that can cause the syrupy/dry ink condition that I previously ran into in a prior post. The inks that I chose for this test were the inks that gave me the palette in the blue, red, and orange color spectrum that I was looking for. I know that ink colors/formulation will change over the years, but for now I am good to go.

I have since used the Pilot Iroshizuku Yu-Yake ink (the ink that gave me issues in my prior thread) in other converters with no issues with it going syrupy/dry.

Thanks to everyone for their help in resolving this issue.

Tommy

that's good to hear, and thanks for both taking the time to experiment and also for sharing the results here. 👍
