Pilot Kakuno extra fine

Mine is clear, so it doesn't look like a kid's pen.   Sides are faceted, so pen doesn't roll, and grip is comfortably shaped for my hand.  I am female, with somewhat large hands - this fits perfectly with good weight and balance.   Cap lacks a clip, which I'm fine with.  The cap is also shaped to avoid rolling off surfaces.   Test writing was on Clairefontaine, with the ink cartridge it came with.   This is possibly a finer line than my 14K vintage EF Platinum, by just a hair.  PERFECTLY smooth.

I'll update, if anything turns up later, but so far, LOVE this pen.   Special thanks to Goulet Pens for suggesting it to me, in response to a question.

I have a pilot kakuno too that I got when I ordered my hobonichi one year and I have to admit, it's one of my favorite pens. Easy to write with, nib is nice, never have a flow issue, and because of its price point (which is low) I don't obsess over losing or damaging it like I do with other pens.

These are good pens.  If you get a bunch it can be fun to mix and match caps and bodies differently than they do at the factory.

I love my Kakuno pens and, aside from the smiley face on the nib, I don't think they look like kids pens at all.  I could do without all the pastel colors, and would like more primary colors or bold colors.  The pastel colors look a bit feminine for my tastes, but I don't think they look like kid pens.

I think Kakuno's are great pens.  One of my favorites.

I have the Clear EF, Red/Grey F and medium pastels in blue, violet and pink. I am not done with them yet. They get added to the cart to get over the line for free shipping or picked up from the local office supply chain when the urge strikes for a new pen without having to wait.

I have a green/grey too, but I broke it's cap (it doesn't click on any more). So it's in the parts drawer.

Will work for pens...

Kakuno are good pens to use and to give to young people. I know that some of them will not be use but I believe they are and excellent gift instead of many other things that will bring only a short time happiness; the Kakuno are also good gifts together with books.

I had one Kakuno (until it unaccountably disappeared from my desk) that I used for quick notes. It always wrote immediately no matter how long it had been since I last used it. Unfortunately, I found I could not use it for longer writing sessions because the edge of the cap, when posted, happened to sit right on the web of my thumb/index finger and was irritating, but the pen was a little too short to be comfortable to use for long periods without the cap.

I found my Kakuno yesterday!!! It was personally brought to me from Japan, and it had been missing for six to nine months.  I kept looking in nooks and crannies, but no luck, and I was quite convinced someone in the family had absconded with it.

Low and behold, yesterday, during family art project, we went looking for pens to use with Spirographs.  Two pen/pencil cases (NOT mine) were brought to the table once we determined fountain pens wouldn't work. I unzip one, dump out all the pencils and a few pens, and low and behold, there was my my Kakuno!

The ink had long dried up.  I have cleaned it thoroughly, re-filled the empty cartridge with ink, and was reminded again of what a nice pen it is!  I was going to add it to the Fps-for-elementary-age-children thread because of the smiley nib and the shape of the barrel.  😃

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
