Cleaned out this little WW2 Triumph today.

It's one of my favorite pens, but it's more than 80 years of life demand a rest now and again.

Now, which pen to ink up in its place?

Cleaned out an Onoto Model O - thought it was empty, but I just hadn't opened the blind cap - despite talking to @InkyProf about his similar issue the other day with his Onoto.  Sometimes the brain just needs more coffee.  Anyway, flushed it thoroughly to get rid of the Waterman Serenity Blue, and then decided to refill it with Diamine Blue Black - which I'm really loving this week, having inked Pelikan 4001 Blue Black in some other Onoto I'm sure...

I'm getting ready to clean out an MB 146 and a Kaweco ArtSport that haven't seen much us, and I'll sell them and use the funds there to help justify some extravagance at the upcoming California Pen Show.

The Lamy studio fine has had yet another flushing with the converter as it refused to write. It’s had more soaking, cleaning and flushing out than ever. It is now drying again in a bottle with kitchen Roll at the base.

at least now it is drawing up water and the converter is filling up all the way. When I first started the process it would not even do that. I did flush it with ink at one point. That seemed to get it going a little.

if this does not work I’m abandoning the Lamy black cartridges and using the converter with Lamy blue ink.

all the best

Finished a big piece of writing over the weekend and rewarded myself by cleaning out five pens that were nearly empty or that I wished were nearly empty: Pelikan M405 Stresemann (4001 Blue-Black), 1980s Montblanc 146 (R&K Salix), Montblanc Super Carrera (Akkerman Scharlaken van Jan Steen), Aurora Internaztionale (Herbin Bleu des Profondeurs), Gravitas Ultemate Vac (Private Reserve Ebony Purple). Going to try very hard not to fill up those empty slots in the desk tray too quickly.

Yesterday it was the recently repaired Emerald Pearl Vac (not sure of the size) with Waterman Absolute Brown.  Unfortunately, that didn't seem to be a good ink to put in that pen, and kept drying out.  So I'd keep refilling it -- and couldn't BELIEVE how much ink got dumped in the process of flushing it yesterday.... :headsmack:  (And of course THAT is one of the inks that Waterman discontinued.... :crybaby:)

Pelikan M200 black with a Binder stub italic nib.   Flushed the Diamine Majestic blue right out of it.

Oh and a Visconti HS Bronze Age with a palladium stub nib: still working on clearing out the Noodlers Polar Black (takes a few soaks).

Enjoyed both of them immensely the last 2 weeks.

Hey, @Bo Bo Olson, glad to see you pop up here in the middle of your long non-FP writing days! Hope it's going well.

Also down to using just one pen, none in the ready cup.

One ink Gutenberg blue, a bright blue shading ink.

My made in Japan, burl Diplomat M = real F.

When it runs out of ink, there is no warning.

The top burl pen in this won in a live auction lot.

This late 30's early 50's Gutenberg ink bottle was cleaned with salt and has my Gutenberg blue ink in it.npVCk1l.jpg

I cleaned my Pilot Cavalier F out last night, and just after, my Jinhao 82 M dried up, so that’s getting cleaned out tonight.

A Karas 'Skadi' Vertex with stunning blue and green resin.  Probably the best writing pen I own, certainly the best steel nib by far.

and

An old standby, Lamy AL-Star Coffee LE.

I used the extra long blunt needle that @AmandaW and @A Smug Dill let me know about. The needle is longer than the Pilot cartridge, and did a great job cleaning out three cartridges. I put the needle on a syringe that has not drawn in the full amount of water. It did with the extra long needle. I’m so happy with the results, and the long needles. Thank you both for the help. You are my Aussie based heroes.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
