My Plumix M that wasn't 'playing nicely' with the 3 different makes of cartridges I had tried. I 'borrowed' the converter from my (Chinese) MB StarWalker 🤣 and filled up with Aurora Black 🥰  And a pen I have had problems with since I bought it, suddenly transforms into a different pen completely.  Not wishing to make this an 'ink thread' but Aurora Black is difficult to obtain and expensive in the UK. Anyone that can suggest a credible alternative feel free to PM me.

If you want a free-flowing blackest-blackety-black ink I recommend Noodler’s Black.

It has the added property of being cellulose-reactive, meaning that it binds chemically to the cellulose in paper.

And the cellulose in wood.

And the cellulose in cotton.

It doesn’t feather or bleed, so it’s a great ‘work’ ink - just don’t spill it on your desk, or your shirt 😁

10 years ago  I always kind of considered that a US based ink??

Sorry, I'm way out of date... best supplier if you are UK based, as if it's readily available, I'd be interested in other colours other than black.  Any I should avoid? I thought some colours were 'problematic' back in the day? 🤔

I previously bought mine from ‘Pure Pens’ of Newport, aka nichepens.co.uk.

It has gone up in price since I last bought it, but £17 for 90ml of Noodler’s Black is still cheaper (per ml) than is £13 for 45 ml of Aurora Black.

If you do buy a 90ml bottle of Noodler’s Black, I advise you to shake the bottle just before you fill your pen from it. Every time.

Thanks for the link and the tips.... I think my last bottle of Aurora Black cost me about £8 inc postage which was 'considered to be'  expensive.... Back then it won all the 'What is the best blackest black' threads...I have nothing but praise for Aurora Black, I can't say anything bad about it.🤣

Pure Pens is selling this on Amazon now.  £16.95 inc £1  postage.

10 years ago Niche Pens were pretty much doing Pelikan pens only and were as far as I could see, the best prices in the UK. (I'm sure you already know this)

They’re who I have bought both of my Pelikan piston-fillers from 👍

Possibly
my two Pelikanos too, but one of those may well have come to me from eBay (yarr!).

My Chinese Dolce-Vita Narjanja has ran out of Aurora Black.  I have 7 pens inked at the minute which is far too many for my liking.

I'm at the sink.... I've removed the barrel, I'm going to clean the converter and flush the nib with the ear bulb.... Or that's what I thought...

The pens been refilled with Aurora Black 🤔  🙂

Laban Antique Rose gold after suspecting contamination, Pilot Iroshizuku Shin Kai was looking excessively dark and leaking reddish brown spots if tapped to clear converter remembered a previous fill had bee Diamine Onyx black. Looks like it was leaving residue behind piston and caused reaction despite flushing between fills

Today it was the Parker 45/Eversharp hybrid (I don't know the actual model).  It had diluted Iroshizuku Ajisai in it, but I wasn't wild about the ink color when it was diluted.

Excuse my ignorance Ruth, but why do people dilute inks?  Surely the manufacturer has gone to great lengths to provide what they believe to be the best possible product?

Sometimes I refill a pen with distilled water because I don't have the time or energy to flush the pen out (as in the case here).

But sometimes I will dilute an ink some in general because the ink might be too saturated (flow issues) or because it's badly behaved in other ways (such as feathering) -- I tend to dilute Noodler's Bay State Blue about 20% with distilled water because of that.

Thank you for your reply Ruth.  I've never used any saturated inks if I'm honest so I've never come across these problems. I remember BSB's reputation from when I was around some years ago. I was very nearly tempted to try Noodlers Black, but I think I'll stick with Aurora Black for now, despite it being hard(ish) to come by in the UK. In my all be it limited experience, if a pen doesn't work with Aurora Black it needs to be looked at / fixed.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
