Parker Vacuum Filler

I just picked these two lock down filler vacs. The burgundy has a two tone nib dated 37 the pen is dated 47. I was having trouble figuring out the silver one because the imprint is kind of worn, so I got out a different loupe and kept looking at it and thinking something’s not right. The reason it looked funny is because it does not say vacumatic, but says vacuum filler instead and is a one piece section and barrel . it has a bad nib it’s cracked and the tip is bad, the only good part about that it is a later replacement.

Nice find!

Vacuum fillers were made in 1932 and 1933. Vacumatics came out in 1934 (I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm off on this).

Here is a crystal vacuum filler which has ambered to a burgundy.

That is a very cool pen!
I was quite surprised when I realized what I had. I’m glad it’s in as good of shape as it is. it’s too bad the proper nib is gone. It’s always good to see someone who knows how to properly spell brian.     Brian

Here's my burgundy Vacuum Filler. These are fun and interesting pens

BTW, a "47" stamped lockdown would be 4th quarter 1937, so sounds like the nib and pen match on that one. I'm rather fond of the 3 band Standard size and also of them in Burgundy...

Vacuum Filler nibs are often found with tail cracks. Several here in the I should fix that someday pile.

Do you do them yourself?

I had Greg Minuskin fix a cracked nib for me a while back-it was on an English Duofold but was quite flexible and I thought it worth fixing. He did a wonderful job, and he seems to be able to bring even seeming lost causes back from the dead.
