Pen Shops in Scotland

Hello all. Headed off for 9 days in Scotland, Edinburgh, Isle of Skye, Inverness, and places in between. Now I figured while we were visiting castles and listening to bagpipes, even have tickets for Tattoo in Edinburgh, I would try to visit a couple pen shops, since the closest thing I have to a pen shop is WS Smiths, sigh.

 

Now here is the slight problem, I need places to visit, any suggestions from the UK side of FPN would be most appreciated. Bit of a time sensitive issue, leaving next weekend.

There's a branch of the Pen Shop in Princes Square in Glasgow. John Lewis also have a small pen counter.

Aside from a gift shop in Banff that sells a plastic Parker Vector and pencil set, I know of no other pen shops - at least in the north of Scotland. Ha ha!

Thanks Patrick. A Parker Vector is not quite what I am looking for ... :ltcapd: . On the haggis note, we kind of like it :embarrassed_smile:

The Pen Shop is the only one worth visiting, if only for the Tibaldi Bentley pen in the right hand window. Have you got £3,500 to spare. If you have any sense you wont spend anything as everything is at RRP! The shopping centre is certainly smart.

 

Avoid spending much time in Edinburgh. It is just a rip-off. Everything has an entrance fee, except part of the Scottish Galleries. DON'T go to the Edinburgh Dungeons. A total waste of money and probably a very long wait.

 

The better half and I go to Glasgow. Take one of the open top bus trips around Glasgow to take in the sites. The Hunterian Museum is especially worth the trip. There are some excellent galleries as well. The GOMA (modern art gallery) is either brilliant or baffling. A nearby Italian restaurant Dimaggios is worth a vist or for those with deeper pockets try the oyster bar further up.

 

Skye is a bit of a tourist trap with expensive shops in the main town whose name escapes me. Better to go to Mull if you want some peace and quiet. There is a ferry across the water, but not a lot to see other than tranquility.

Will be spending a couple of days in Glasgow; is the Pen Shop still there? Anything new pen locations of interest since the last time this thread was active (2007)?

I'm at a conference in Edinburgh next month, I guess it will be my standard routine of Comedy Clubs and Haggis suppers for one...
