Amber that's it.....

I just know sometimes they sell inkwell inserts on English Ebay, and some good fella gave me a link I'll try and find so others can say, give me that ink well dirt cheap. It's got no inserts.

And start one's own collection....do recommend  a hand full or six will do just fine. ;)

Well, your collection is stunning.  This weekend, a client gave me one so I'll be brining it in to take pictures.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I'm happy for you.

The only problem is it will limit your ink choice for a bit.** And if the ink evaporated as it will in the desert, take a needle syringe and fill in a bit of water. A bit more or less don't really make a great difference to the hue of the ink.

**As long as it has an insert it is easy to clean.

Mmmmmm I do love some good sword pics :3 thanks for those, @Bo Bo Olson!

I'll see if I can get a pic of my blue glass inkwell tomorrow, I've not used it yet but am considering it with my big 100ml bottle of Diamine Registrar's.

If you have space on your desk, do use it. Adding a bit of water occasionally, is no different essentially than adding a smidgen of ink.

I'll have to take a couple pictures of some of my swords. My 1895 British Infantry officer's sword is my most fancy.

So, a group of us found these paperweight inkwells. I really love them. The other crystal inkwell is using a door knob as a stopper.  :)

A couple of those, I've not seen the likes of before. The single picture of the greenish one and clear one with the little geared circles.

I would think though the tall one is a perfume decanter.

I'll have to take pictures of my wife's collection of them.

I'd say so, too. The "stopper" part looks big and handy enough for you (or Bo's wife, of course) to use it to dab a touch of the perfume onto your (her) skin.

 I went over to those manly push top spray bottles....of expensive aftershave until I run out....been working on that for a while.

Still use cheap splash on Old Spice,:P so I can afford on sale good booze.

Oddly putting a few drops of that behind my ears only attracts the homeless. :bunny01:

I like Old Spice too, but the inside width of that neck up top... isn't that a bit small, even for a XXXXXXF nib?

Perfumed ink is in, and a nibmeister makes impossible wishes SOP.

But with Old Spice, the paper type is paramount.

Yes, that one was a perfume bottle, but it seals well and is wide enough for most pens.  :)

These are some old crystal ones.

While I was filling a pen yesterday from a vial, I spilled the ink all over my desk.  My son created some special ink wells to help me.  While I agree these are not as pricey as the collection above, these were made with love for me. :)

Copying Ink??

Slightly off topic, this is from an item currently on an auction site. What would be "copying" ink??

I'm thinking it is the ink for the copy machine.

I don't know, but my knowledge only goes to 1882 or so, for my Western Saga.

They did have little letter presses as Typewriters were first coming in.

The first carbon paper was you kept the original and sent the carbon copy to the other business. That Carbon paper was double sided. So you had proof you had written the bill or letter, in you had front and back copy.

Single sided carbon paper came in @1867, and was used in the five carbon copies of Train Orders.

There were lots of things I use in my American office of 30-40 years ago that were still in use from the 1880's. (Would like to know what is still in use today if someone wants to comment.)

When I started working for the Germans....a different office culture. Lesser need of storage in there was less office work that needed paper support.

Try......
