I’m trying to write my Parker 50 M dry. It’s inked with a Washable Blue cartridge made by Luxor. This ink is more saturated and vibrant than the vintage US and the modern French versions.

Top 5 (in no particular order) of 30 currently inked pens:

Parker Duofold Centennial IM, RO Rose Gold Antiqua

Parker Duofold Lady needlepoint, MB Cool Grey

MontBlanc 1441 F, Monteverde Brown Sugar

Platinum PKB 2000, Platinum Cyclamen Pink

Waterman 52 EF, Herbin Bleu Pervenche

The new Pelikan Souverän M400 that arrived yesterday

What color and what nib did you get?  I love the three I have (an older model Brown Tortoise, and the M405 Stresemann and M405 Blue Black I got along with the Stresemann -- it was the ONE time in my llfe that I had a hefty "discretionary budget" for whatever I wanted and since I saved money on the Stresemann by getting it from Rolf Thiel on his eBay store I saved some money, so said to myself, "Hmmm -- wonder what ELSE he has at the moment?"  And was going to get a regular M400 in the Blue Black (which was tiny bit cheaper than the M405) -- then I saw the M405 in the Blue Black and the rhodium plating just made it SOOOOOO much prettier....

Of course, an hour after I hit the "buy" button I got that "Did you know?"  call from PayPal.... :headsmack:  And those are STILL my two most expensive pens....

It's been a Herbin kind of day: so far, I've used (and finished and cleaned out) a green-hatched Conway Stewart 58 (J. Herbin Vert Empire), written a couple of pages with the Parker 61 Flighter (after diagnosing and successfully addressing a minor but annoying leak a couple of weeks ago in collaboration with the pen's restorer: still inked with J. Herbin Vert de Gris), and now am using the Onoto Heritage (J. Herbin Bleu Verrerie).

The last I'm using in a new notebook, a Nakabayashi Yu-Sari notebook in B5 size. I'd never bought a B5 notebook until last month, and didn't really have a good understanding of the size until I picked this one up in person in a store in NYC; I've used A4 for academic notetaking and writing because it's closest in format to the lined chemistry notebooks that had been my standby for decades (but which are horrible for FPs). So far, though, I think B5 might be even better for my purposes than A4. It's large enough to feel like a proper page to someone who's used to A4 (or 8.5 x 11), but it's just a little smaller (slightly under 7 x slightly under 10 inches), which means that if I'm taking notes while reading a PDF on my laptop, as I often am, the notebook and laptop together don't take up quite as much desk space. There also seems to be a wider selection of notebooks in B5 than in A4, overall. So... I think this is my new approach.

One last pen for the day: after the Onoto ran dry, I cleaned it out and inked my new Aurora Internazionale in green with an 18k <F> nib and, to keep the Herbin theme going, Bleu des Profondeurs.

Conway Stewart 24 with a brand new sac.  My first sac replacement and I'm super proud of myself - even though it's not particularly complicated.   The pen has a wonderful nib and is a pleasure to write with.

I have to ask what Onoto you were using.   @inkyprof

This was a "modern" Onoto, the Heritage 120 Years Anniversary pen released earlier this year, with a steel <F> nib. My only Onoto so far, but I'm sure I will acquire a Magna at some point, especially hanging around here, where there are plenty of Onoto Penablers to encourage me!

A vintage Onoto Magna is the dream!   When I find one, i'll buy it.  I have a Model O and a Junior and I absolutely love them, especially the Model O.  I have a 5601 on the way that is supposed to have amazing flex.    How do you like the Heritage 120?   I'm not against the modern versions, they're gorgeous in their own right.

Oh, but there is a 18K option! 😁 As well as a plunger filler option (an OG one, not the mini-plunger... converter they usually have)! 💸

I like it a lot. Great size, beautifully tuned nib, well-finished — a worthy tribute to the vintage pen. Oh, and when I said I was “sure” I’d get a Magna I meant a modern one: I haven’t even begun to explore vintage Onoto de la Rue and imagine they are hard to find in good condition and very expensive if you do, so we’ll see!

And those two options together nearly double the cost of the pen! Although I’m not saying I would rule it out! 🙂 The plunger-filler in particular is tempting. (Their steel nibs… well, my example anyway… are/is terrific.)

Vintage is not too expensive actually and you can find some beautiful pens that are amazing to write with.  It only gets prohibitively expensive with the hard to find Magna.

You and @lamarax are ganging up on my wallet! But thank you for the encouragement, I'm glad to know this. 🙂

I thought they were JoWo, but that doesn’t make for as good a bit of wordplay, except maybe in Czech.

Nemluvím česky :) Schmidt housings sport either JoWo or Bock made nibs, it's rather complicated 😛

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
