Yard-o-Led Grand Barley

Diplomat Aero

Faber-Castell E-Motion

I have two of three of those. I'd really like to add a Yard-O-Led. Not a grand though. To me, the standard thin one is the prototypical Yard-O-Led. Since they are fairly costly I'm unlikely to own more than the one.

n+1

A Y-o-L Viceroy Victorian Standard is one of my "grail" pens.  But it's also the "when I win the lottery" pen because there's no way I could ever afford one otherwise.

I was recently looking at the Aurora Ipsilon. I particularly like the black pen body with sterling cap. Any opinions on the Ipsilon or Aurora in general?

I have no experience with the Ipsilon, unfortunately, and relatively little with modern Aurora. In addition to a vintage 88K*, I have this 88, which I like very much -- it's basically a black and gold cigar, but with a distinctive clip design and and a simple, attractive engraving on the cap band, and the nib (a 14k medium) is more like what I'd call a wet fine, which suits me well; just a touch of softness, and a tiny bit of feedback. And I recently acquired an Internazionale in green, which I suppose was one of my "grail pens," or at least a pen that I spent a long time trying to find at a "reasonable" (non-unreasonable?) price; it's made of their proprietary celluoid acetate material, "Auroloide," which I find gorgeous, and while I've only written with it briefly so far, I'm not disappointed at all; it has an 18K F nib that is both a little springy and very well-grounded on the page (i.e., slightly more feedback than the 88, which is to my liking). The finish and the mechanics on both (both are piston-fillers) seem terrific, and they feel like solid, well-crafted pens. I had no problems with the nibs, either. So... a small sample, but positive experiences. I'm sure there are other folks here who can offer more, especially on the Ipsilon!

*Edited to add: oh, and a Hastil, part of my subcollection of streamlined stainless steel pens from the 60s-80s.

Thanks so much! I appreciate the information. I did find some unfavorable opinions of the Ipsilon on here so I am holding off until I find (or don't find) more positive ones. I would also like to research the brand a bit more. Thank you again for your input and for taking the time to share your opinion. Hope you're keeping warm!

It was 8 F when I got up this morning. I was in Sharon, CT and Millerton today, and it was even colder there. There were blue skies and sunshine until around 2 but the temp stayed in the 20s all day.

Had to look up where Sharon, CT was (sounded familiar).  I've probably been through there, in the distant past (I went to the University of Bridgeport -- back BEFORE it got bought out by a cult, thank you VERY much); and one set of in-laws live in the southwest part of the state.

Today it's been the recently repaired Emerald Pearl Vac Major, F? nib, still with Waterman's Absolute Brown; and the grey Decimo, F nib, still with the as yet unidentified Diamine teal or blue black ink.  And if I get up the energy to take a stab at balancing the checkbook tonight, I will be adding in the Pelikan M120 Iconic Blue, still with Pelikan 4001 Blue Black.

Narwhal Nautilus - appropriately filled with Nakahama Whaleman's Sepia.

Parker 51 from '54 - DA Atlantic Blue, from back when they called it Ferdinand Graf von Zeppelin.

Lamy AL-Star (coffee le) - Noodler's American Aristocracy

...and fighting the urge to ink up another one.

Still on the lookout for the Cranberry Flourish for you! I noticed SpeerBob has one in rollerball on eBay. You might want to message him and let him know you're interested in the fountain pen version in the event he comes across one. I've bought from him in the past and he's a very reputable seller.

So far today, it's been the Ciselé 75, F nib, still with Waterman Tender Purple.

But haven't made a start on today's morning pages entry (I went to two estate sales this morning and had breakfast after I got home, when was catching up on email and a bit on FB and (of course) on here); all I've used the 75 for is to make notes on what I spent on the pens at the first estate sale, and a really silly Christmas present for a friend at the second one -- a ceramic tankard which is made to look like Donald Duck (!), with the lid to it being Donald's head....  Not super cheap (especially compared to the pens) but it just made me laugh and my friend SOOOOOOO needs it (she collects Donald Duck stuff).

Then of course, later, I will get back to balancing the checkbook, and for that it will probably be the M120 Iconic Blue, still with Pelikan 4001 Blue Black.

+1 on Speerbob.

I have bought much from him over the years and found him to be an excellent person AND dealer to work with.

He also helped me find parts for a gold Sheaffer mechanical pencil at a very good price.

BTW, he is here on FPN so you can message him directly or via his ebay site.
