Decided to have some fun and pulled a Leprechaun-sized pen off of the stack of unused pens that are still in the box. Inked it up with Diamine Appletini for some green in the day. Benu Pixie in Aqua Glow.

Very cute pixie. I have the Plum Cream version. It was so hard to choose the color.

Today’s pen is the True Writer Origin with silver tone cap and green body. I put a Nemosine 1.1mm stub nib in it. It’s filled with Kaweco Palm Green ink.

I like a lot what I see (and read) in this thread today. And I've finally found a good reason to use this Pelikan 4001 Dark Green to boot!

The pen is also a connection: I bought it when I lived in Ireland.

Today I was using one of my operational Pilot Custom 823s, a clear model with a medium nib, inked with Iroshizuku Asa-gao. This is a magnificent pen, and I only hope that it doesn’t crack as three others of this model have.

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

Today's pens are the Leonardo MZG 'Masterpiece' in rosewood ebonite, EF, inked with Leonardo Passion Red (both the pen and the ink are always a joy to use), and Pilot Justus 95, F with Pilot Black, which continues to please.

Is it supposed to look like that?

This morning, trying out a re-nibbed grey-marbled Pelikan 100N (mostly postwar, except possibly the cap), with J. Herbin Gris Galet. I restored this pen last year, including straightening a slightly bent 14k monoline script nib, which now writes very well -- but is also too broad and wet for everyday use for me. (It's not marked but writes like a broad or a very wet medium, maybe what Pelikan used to call a "MM.") I recently took the nib unit apart and replaced the 14k nib with with a F or EF "CN" nib, of which I picked up a few from Rolf Thiel inexpensively. (CN=chromium-nickel steel alloy; the grade isn't marked here either.)

It writes very well and is pleasantly soft and springy, and the Gris Galet, new to me, is lovely too. It reads as a slate blue, or as a relatively saturated grey with a blue edge, rather than as a greyed-out blue, like some "blue-blacks." Finally, I can use and enjoy this!

Working on cataloguing the last few I have inked. Decided to use this one today. Pelikan Calculation of Times with 18C medium nib inked with Edelstein Sapphire. Purchased about 6 weeks in uninked condition with box, papers, etc. from Dromgoole’s. Had not seen one in the wild until I walked in and Larry smiled ha ha ha. Nib is softer and writes a finer line than our other modern Pelikan nibs. Very pleasant to write with. It is a HEAVY pen. Was I think very divisive amongst Pelikan aficionados when it came out.

So far today it's been the Red Diplomat Magnum, M nib, which I had recently gotten a converter for at B/W.  Meant to use it yesterday only that ended up not happening, because I filled it with Platinum Classic Forest Black IG ink for St. Patrick's Day, but forgot to do that until the evening, after I got home from choir rehearsal.

It looks heavy!  That is a stunning pen.

Love Dromgoole’s!

Today I’m back to the Waterman Charleston, inked with 1950s Skrip Royal Blue.

Wow.  I hadn't caught the "heavy pen" part in the original post....  Well, that's another pen that will get crossed off the wish list, then.... :(

Thank you. Dromgoole’s is wonderful, been going there since I was a child. While the pen is heavy it balances very well for me so the weight isn’t burdensome.

3 pens for me today

Conway Stewart 55 with Diamine Blue Velvet

Nahvalur Original Stub  with Conklin Israel 75th Blue

Asvine J16 - wearingul Hades

i really prefer the Asvine Stub to the Nahvalur but I’m trying to give it a little more usage before I decide whether or not to part with it.

Your posts about the cracking 823s are concerning. I have only one, but it's a favorite, so fingers crossed.

Agreed, I have three 823s (one in each 'colour'), they all write like a dream. So far I've had no issues, and I will be deliberately avoiding taking them apart in the hopes of not inviting trouble.

Today's pens have been;

Sailor Pro Gear (bright yellow) MF, inked with Pilot Black

Pilot Justus 95 F, also inked with Pilot Black

Kaweco AL Piston (navy) EF, still inked with Robert Oster Detox. Love the ink capacity we get with the piston model.

Today (and for the next few weeks) it's the Leonardo Momento Zero in Alga (green), steel F nib, and Pelikan Edelstein Aventurine.

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.
    • Ceilidh
Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
