What pen(s) are you using today?

A Smug Dill

Recommended Posts

Today's pen is a Bexley Poseidon Penultimate L. E. 07/22, with an 18k fine nib inked with Pilot Yama-budo. It appears to be made from the same stock as the Bexley White Tiger limited edition (116 produced). The White Tiger has gold plated furniture whereas the Penultimate has chrome furniture.

I'm still using the Pelikan M250 and MB 149.

I am surprised that none of the Pi pen owners haven't mentioned using their Pi pens on Pi day.

I mentioned it in another thread. I did get a pen today, so it can be my Pi Pen! It’s a Kaweco, so it has the “slices” on the cap. I didn’t get any pie to celebrate. But there was a text from a pizza place. Maybe go out and buy a frozen pizza….

Adding the photo of the Kaweco Skyline Sport 2026 edition in Pink that I filled with the ink I got with the order. It is De Atramentis Aubergine.

One must always have a list!

Oh, yes! Especially for pen shows. I'm not sure whether it has saved me any money, but it certainly helps me focus.

Today has seen me using;

Platinum 3776 Mt. Fuji Unkei Kino Gumo SF, with Akkerman Stormachtig Blauw

I'm still trying to distract myself from a new pen due out next month by using my Sailor King Of Pen Iro Miyabi Usukou, M, inked with De Atramentis Whisky Ink

and then last, but by no means least Pilot Justus 95 inked with Pilot Black.

I had the Pilot Elite and black/rhodium  Sailor Pro Gear in use yesterday and then this nice little MB 144 came in the mail and obviously needed to be inked. Elite is 18K soft fine with kon-peki and the Pro Gear is a fine tuned by Kirk and inked with Sailor souboku. This one has a 21K rhodium nib rather than the typical bi-color. Nib on the 144 is what you’d expect. Inked with MB Mystery Black and it’s smooth and wet. Not the most interesting nibs in the world, but boy, they work as intended. Perhaps another large German pen maker (quasi German these days?) should take note 😉. Not much writing this weekend with yard work, some time with the Big Green Egg, and a Great Pyrenees who had doggie ACL surgery on Monday, but a nice trio to choose from when I need to write. @Penguincollector I’ll add my well wishes to the pile. Feel better soon.

Platinum Blue Black

I've finally got around to trying it -- first time using both the Meteor and the Blue-Black.

Very happy with both, even though the 'black' in the ink name is a bit of an overstatement. As far as blue-blacks go, I prefer the colour of Pelikan 4001 but the wetness of Platinum -- is there a B-B ink that combines these two preferences, anyone?

MB 146 <M>, early 80s, with MB Midnight Blue (non-IG). This fill is nearing its end, but I also seem to be using it less and less, probably because it's become familiar and I'm a little bored with it -- so it might, Zenoesquely, last forever. But I also can't seem to bring myself to discard the remaining ink and clean it out, because I also really enjoy writing with it. Paradox upon paradox.

Conklin Endura Senior <F>, late 1920s, orange celluloid, with Waterman Inspired Blue. No paradoxes here: new pen, recently filled, vivid ink, nothing but puppy love.

Thank you, @Cjtamu. Your pens are lovely, very much in my wheelhouse. I get Kirk to italicize all of my MB nibs and it really brings out all of their wonderful qualities. May your giant puppy heal quickly and thoroughly.

Thank you, he’s doing well. Pyrs are remarkable dogs and very resilient. And this particular dog is special, even for a Pyr. The real fun will start soon when he figures he’s 100% and should be allowed to roam and do Oso Blanco things and we won’t let him LOL. Kirk is a wizard. We communicate well and it’s easy for me to tell him what I want though he pretty much knows at this point.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
