Cleaned out a bunch of pens yesterday, so today, I'm writing with their successors in the tray:

• a vintage orange Conklin Endura with a <F> nib, Waterman Inspired Blue, to echo the vibrant blue pigment (I'm not sure if it's paint or wax) in the barrel and cap grooves. Fabulous nib, slightly oversold as "semi-flex"; I would call it moderately firm, but it has great character thanks to its slightly stubbish shape.

• a Parker 51 demi Vac in Cedar Blue with a proper-length demi cap (Lustraloy), <F> nib, filled with Aurora Blue-Black. Fixed this up last year and am only now getting around to using it. These demi Vacs are tiny, but posted, it's still a fine size, and it writes nicely!

• a new Pilot E95s aka Elite in burgundy, <EF> nib, Kobe No. 7 Kaikyou. This is a conservative blue-black color with a flash of interest in the form of some reddish sheen visible even with this very fine nib.

• and an Onoto Heritage Anniversary Edition, black chased ebonite, <F> steel nib, filled with Diamine Damson. Feels unlubricated and is a little skippy in the Apica CD Premium notebook but works fine on Midori paper, and I like the color.

@InkyProf I have 37 bottles of Diamine ink, but somehow I missed Damson. I like the color. It will have to go on my wishlist.

If you get it, I hope you enjoy! In case these points of reference are useful for you, I find it to be very close in color to Rohrer & Klingner Scabiosa (mild iron gall), but maybe just a touch more saturated; and also close to J. Herbin Poussière de Lune, but the Herbin leans slightly more red.

Wow!  That's a bright cheery color!  What do they call that?  And is it a standard color or some LE?

Ironically, I had JUST inked up the 1911S Loch Ness Monster pen, MF nib, with Sailor Souboku, since I needed to write some bills and tend to want to use pretty permanent inks for signing checks and addressing envelopes (especially with the weather the way it is -- scattered thunderstorms expected on and off until this evening).

Earlier, when I doing today's morning pages entry, it was the Violet Safari, B nib, still with with Lamy Turquoise.

Pilot Falcon SEF today.  This one really forces me to have a very light touch but is a very pleasing writing experience.

They call that color “tangerine.” As far as I know it’s just a standard color. I like it a lot! Sailor does some beautiful colors.

Today it's been the Violet Safari, B nib, still with Lamy Turquoise; and the Sailor 1911S Loch Ness Monster pen, MF nib, with Sailor Souboku.

ETA: In the photo that looks more like a red than an orange.  Which is part of the reason I asked what the color was.

My new Sailor 1911S, with a 14K broad nib!

Is that an oblique nib? The tipping looks slanted left to right.

I thought the picture made it look like that too! But I think it’s just an illusion created by a spot of ink. It’s just a regular broad nib

@Penguincollector You see a red thing and you want to paint it black!

I am a Black Pen Society member, but I would rock this Sailor. I heard the opening line and the sitar as soon as I saw this.

Thanks! You know, it’s actually orange… I guess the white balance is a little funny on the picture. This one might be a little more accurate. Although I think I got it largely because I think old Duofold Big Reds look so good!

Okay and thank you.

In fact, the only time I purchased a broad nib was at a pen show in Boston, years ago.

It was a TWSBI 580 Demonstrator. Bought it from Pendleton Brown and had him make it into a "stub".

It's still used and enjoyed... one of my favorites.

I also appreciate the fact that it has tipping which most 1.1 "stubs do not.

Not a Big Red, but if we’re going from red to orange, here’s my new-old Conklin…

That’s so funny, on my iPad tha5 first photo is bright tomato red! It looks more orange in the last picture. I also enjoy the Duofold red, Waterman red ripple, and MB Burgundy.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
