Au contraire, mon ami. Albert Finney just nailed the character in "Murder on the Orient Express" (1974) 🙂

I have trouble remembering a true Sherlock, other than Peter Cushing of course.

[Besides, Peter Ustinov was a big guy -- nothing to do with how Poirot is portrayed by Agatha Christie. The Doric OTOH, fits the set perfectly]

I will put on my watch-list, many thanks!!

The Sherlocks are so diverse that I like 4 of them; recent adding of mixed martial arts to his tactics wasn't adding to my enjoyment.

Today’s pen is a shining blue Sailor Profit Light in Bold, inked with Sailor’s 2023 N. American Pen Show Exclusive with Pennonia Arany added. Orange is one of those colors that I avoid in clothing and objects, but am coming to enjoy in ink. Pink is another hue that I have come around on, but only for ink.

Top 5 (in no particular order) of 20 currently inked pens:

MontBlanc 144 IB, FWP Edwards Gardens

Naaaah.  I didn't really like Albert Finney as Poirot (although admittedly he was WAS better than Kenneth Branagh).  David Suchet, however, is superb -- and really LOOKS the part.

As for Sherlock Holmes?  I watched a lot of the old Basil Rathbone movies in college (so really think of him in the part), but did also like Jeremy Brett in the TV series from the 1990s.

Agreed on orange. Not on clothes, or anything but a pumpkin. Can't concur on ink, but, it's a personal preference. I lean towards purpleish inks lately. New bottle arrives today. More of a magenta, leaning towards the red side of purple, rather than the darker blue.

This ink mix is orange with gold shimmer, it’s the same shimmer that I added to the Monteverde Midnight Black, but it’s less in your face in the orange.

Here’s a picture I took of the pen around the holidays, the light is better now- I’ll post a better picture later in the blue pen club thread, with a writing sample.

My pumpkin is a Talavera ceramic one, so it’s mostly blue and white with some colors mixed in the design. I’m an all year Halloween decor person. Orange inks are a nice change of pace sometimes, and useful for art. This pen has been inked for 2 months now, so it’s not a color I normally use, but contrasts well with other colors I use more. I like the cobalt/indigo/blurple colors the most, with turquoise/teals almost neck and neck with them in terms of preference. Magenta colors are hit or miss with me.

It is Noodlers Texas Live Oak made exclusively for Dromgoole's in Texas. Apparently, they no longer carry it as it is not available on their website. I picked up a small bottle at the Dallas Pen Show many years ago.

Today I have used:

a stainless-steel 2007 Parker Sonnet, with a steel 'M' nib, loaded with Pure Pens 'Celtic Sea' (it actually ran out, and the pen is now in clean-up), and;

a green-striped 1990/91 Pelikan M800, with an 18k gold 'M' nib (with a 'PF' stamp), loaded with Pelikan Edelstein Tanzanite ().

I was going to use my Aurora Optima Primavera LE in celebration of the Vernal Equinox, but it went through the washing machine this morning. The barrel and cap survived completely intact, but the feed is finito and the nib is badly bent. It looks like a fishing hook. I am at a loss as to how to get it repaired, assuming that it can be repaired. It might be easier to just acquire a new nib, but who sells them?

I know how you feel 🙁 Here's a place that sells them, or here (and other places if you search). KENRO may stock them in the US.

They're mighty expensive though; only worth it because of the LE nature of your particular model IMO.

Thank you, lamarax. I checked on your suggestions and you are right, the nibs are very pricey. I'm guessing about half of the cost of a new pen or perhaps even a bit more. However, I love this pen so I have to consider pulling the trigger and buying one. Another option is to switch back and forth with my other Optima. The nib screws in and out like a Pelikan so it is feasible, but not an optimum solution for me. Again, thank you for your help. Much appreciated.

You may want to be a bit cautious doing that on a regular basis; let's say... the plastic housings are somewhat brittle 🙂
