The definition of "insanity", supposedly, is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. If that's true, why the heck do I keep getting up every morning? I could just stay in bed and be different, or, would that make me sane? 🤔

GK Chesterton once wrote an essay about just that.  If I remember correctly, its title was 'On Lying In Bed'.

He recommended doing it.

It has a smooth Japanese SF nib that has a similar feel and line width to my Pilot 743 SF nib.

A 'MADE IN W.-GERMANY' Pelikan M800 from 1990/91, with a green-striped translucent body, and an 'M' nib with a 'PF' stamp.
Loaded with Pelikan Edelstein Tanzanite.

A pretty good pen (& ink) to use if I am ever Pretending to be a Grown-Up ;)

Looking good! Except, like myself, you write like a doctor. 🤔🤣🤣🤣

Seems to me, the Platinum is just a hair's breadth finer.

Today's journal pen is a Profuture Lab EF filled with Sailor Waka-uguisi - the same pen as tested and demonstrated by Smug a few weeks ago. The matte black trim and clip are indeed very smart against the grey-green body colour. I'm lucky to have it.

In honor of St. Patrick, my plan this week is to use my Forest Green Pilot Custom 74, medium nib. I currently have Pilot Asa Gao blue ink in it, and will probably stick with that. I don't really care for writing with green ink, and don't have any I like.

I have this paired with a green Pentel P205 pencil.

For the last month I have had a wonderful time with the lot of 18 Kaweco Sport & Collection pens, in 18 different colors, that I received from a Yahoo!Japan auction. All 18 had BB nibs & converters, and the lot included 19 bottles of ink. The seller filled all 18 converters with the different inks, and I've just made my way through the 18, writing until the pen was empty, them switching to the next. I finished two nights ago & wondered what to use next.

Yesterday a box of items won on Yahoo!Japan arrived from Buyee, including an over the top example of gift packaging. A hysterical example of over-the-top packaging that I had to share with all of you. The pen is an old Fuliwen celluloid pen with 10k nib, which in my experience probably means it was manufactured prior to 2000. This rather tiny pen came in a very heavy 7.5” x 12” box with a cover of hand made paper. Inside is a box which has a 'plate' showing a dragon on the inside of the lid. I'll call this the “dragon scene.” Within this box is...another box, this one of a fine wood with chrome stripes, elaborate hinges & on the bottom, rubber grips. Open the box & on the inside of the lid is the dragon scene again. Nestled into this box is a box of cartridges, a metal pen case that unscrews to reveal velvet cushoning for the pen, with the dragon scene on the outside. And lastly...the pen. And, yes, the rose gold cap has the dragon scene. This is the fourth dragon scene!

This cost $28, including shipping to Buyee. Below are the photos.

And it is a bouncy wet nib with a very attractive celluloid body & grip. I call it celluloid because the outer box had several brochures & other information, in Chinese & English, and it states that the material is celluloid from Italy. To give you an idea of size, the pens shown with the Fuliwen 10K in the last two photos are a Conklin metal duragraph, a Fuliwen 14K with the same celluloid, and a Kaweco Collection.

LOL, and that's my good printing.... 🤪

I agree the Platinum 3776<sf> is just a hair finer than the Pilot 743<sf> 👍

I’ve inked my new PLUS x Sailor First Snow Pro Gear Slim EF with the ink that it came with, Ice Gray ( a instead of e never looks right to me). It’s not the best pairing with an EF nib, so it’s going in a larger nibbed Sailor tomorrow. large.IMG_1744.jpeg.968ff880cacea1a1fd16609a3d1b4791.jpeg

Top 5 (in no particular order) of 20 currently inked pens:

MontBlanc 144 IB, FWP Edwards Gardens

MontBlanc 310s F, mystery grey ink left in converter

Sheaffer Jr. Balance ebonized pearl F, Skrip Black

Pelikan M400 Blue striped OM, Troublemaker Abalone

Platinum PKB 2000, Platinum Cyclamen Pink

always looking for penguin fountain pens and stationery

Really a nice looking pen. I am not a Sailor person (own none) and that one I like.

BTW, is that a penguin under your Sailor or an Orca with a weird fin?
