Indeed, @N1003U, the Pelikan M600 series has the exact fitting size and diameter (for my handsize) and perfect nib behavior. Such a pleasure for daily use!

In addition to my foundational two, last night I remembered I had a Noodler's...what was it? Was it an Ahab? Didn't it have a flex nib?

Nice to meet you, too, OldTravelingShoe (wonderful nickname). Thanks for your kind words ("inspired" - !), which reminded me that you'd asked a question about my cartridge-resealing technique.

 

I have used a hot-glue gun to seal cartridges that I filled with my favorite bottled inks -- for travelling purposes. (I rarely run pens dry as I tend to top them off or clean them out about once a week.)

 

I became too lazy to take out the glue gun, so for the past however many months, I've just use a bit of foil (from my daily vitamin blister pack) and taped that over the cartridge's mouth.

 

I just make sure that I store the cartridge upright. Since I've been dallying with the same few inks, I have actually used most of the the inks I've salvaged this way -- used them up (syringed into different pens). 

 

So I'm not sure how long this method will be effective. I still have hot-glue-sealed cartridges from about eight years ago. They seem all right. There might be some evaporation, but it isn't noticeable (or I'm just not noticing it).

 

I would recommend the tape solution for short-term "storage" and a hot-glue gun for "between now and infinity."

Thank you for this advice. I've been wondering how to manage this. (Plus, this way I will also learn how to use a glue gun. 😄)

Today it's been three pens (so far):

Sailor 1911 S (Loch Ness Monster, MF nib) -- old version Sailor Jentle Sky High.

Parker Vector (Shrek "Puss in Boots" pen, M nib) -- Noodler's Tokyo Gift.

Parker Vector (multi-color "Geometric, M nib) -- Robert Oster Dragon's Night.

(The "so-far" part is because we got replacement credit cards in the mail, and I'm not sure what I have inked up with something relatively permanent, ink-wise, to sign the back of my card; it's not that I don't HAVE those types of inks, just that I'm not sure what's in a pen at the moment...).

It was part of an M640 collection of special edition pens. The nib is M600 size, but the pen is larger and heavier than an M600/620.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
