They might be made in the same factory but there are a lot of differences:

The barrel acrylics are different colors.

The cutouts in the metal are different.

It appears the section is a different shape. The Asvine hourglass. The Conklin tapered

The clip is different

The Conklin cap band is wider.

The clips are different

The Conklin appears to have threads on the blind cap to allow for posting.

The Conklin come in chrome, rose gold and gunmetal finishes. Asvine chrome only as far as I’ve seen.

And with the Conklin you can get their full range of nib sizes.  I wonder if a Conklin nib could be simply swapped into the Asvine.

Lots of differences. One would have to decide if the 150% (roughly) price difference is worth it

I've been using mine a lot recently, and I have to say, it's really nice. I only have one gripe with the pen, which is that it has the slippery metal section, but that's just a personal preference. If you are fine with that, the pen is 100% worth the price. Comfortable in the hand, looks good, the piston mechanism works flawlessly, and the stock nibs are really nice (and nib swaps are easy; I currently have a vintage Moore nib that needed a home in the clear Asvine pen).

Nib Swap:  Is it friction or screw in. Mine’s tight so I’m not sure which to do but would like to look at something else.

Fortunately, as long as it isn’t posted I don’t have trouble with the metal section. I’m lucky I guess.

Other than I prefer stubs or at least broader nibs, the pen seems pretty solid and comfortable to me.

I believe the pen has a screw in nib unit, but I simply pulled the nib and feed from the assembly with a bit of force (being careful not to harm the feed or nib, obviously), and placed the vintage nib on top of the stock feed.

I have two.  Both excellent writers with reliable flow and a smooth near Western M.  On the plus - the inexpensive "overlay", the discrete transparent plastic body shows the ink without "screaming", the big ink capacity.  On the minus, the heavy weight, the slippery metal section and in one of the two pens the overlay cutouts are not as smooth as it should be.  I tried one of them with sparkling ink and works nicely  (for the time being).

The medium nib on my Asvine V169 is smooth and wet.  Eye-catching design.  Acrylic

is blue-grey.  Had no problem with metal section and sweating.  Filled from a bottle

of Dryden Designs Unforgiving Black.  Being a vacuum filler, filled from a bottle of

Dryden Designs Unforgiving Black ink.

So, do we know what size nibs and / collars will fit?  Can I put in a Jowo #6 stub?

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

It is friction fit. It does look like No 6.  I compared it with Jinaho 100 (and FPR) and seems "almost" if not 100% identical.
Asvine's section has a cutout for the nib and although it felt identical I was hesitant to push it in.

I just picked up two from Amazon after watching Chrisrap's review on youtube. I was always intrigued by MB skeleton pens and the Laban seemed like a budget option, but I really wanted to wait for one that wasn't a c/c filler. These ones seem like a fairly inexpensive way to test the waters. I do intend to swap the nibs if I can for different size 6 nibs - maybe Jowos or something similar.

So did you pick up the Laban's aswell?

No, I never did end up getting it. The pen didn't really appeal to me in anything but a vacuum filler (or possibly eyedropper) that would allow the ink to slosh around in the body underneath the overlay. I just like how the clear pen takes on the color of the ink when it's filled that way.

Apparently, there are other colours available in the Chinese market. I have seen a dark frosted blue in a pen case and a frosted black with a black nib, named the "Night Fall", as seen in promotional photos:
