Extra Fine Nib Ink Review: Diamine Safari

This is review #149 in my series.  Here's the YouTube video:

Post-recording notes: Cleaning was quick and easy. The camera really wants to murkify this color by adding excess brownishness. This is a very yellow green, greener than I expected. It's sort of like a dark Rohrer & Klingner Alt-Goldgrün. The scan is too dull. The screen capture is too dark. Zoom is probably closest, but still too brown. The absorbent / copy paper image is also pretty close both as to color and darkness / lightness.

And here is a screen of the final result, for those not interested in the video:

Diamine Safari looks like a wonderful shader and quick dry times are always a plus.  I do have Alt-GG, and also mixed a similar color I call 'Noodler's Murk.'

Quin and Makhabesh have taken a Harry Potter turn!  Fun adventure, and thanks as always for the review.

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

Oh and learned a new word: Scry...... :D

Weird-looking word, isn't it?  But, since we're in the realm of magic, it seemed implausible to me that these 5 powerful wizards wouldn't have some magical ability to track down their High Wizard, so I figured I'd better add it in.  Though why it failed remains a mystery...🤔

For whatever reason, cameras make it look a lot more murky than it is.  It's really more of a yellow green, not much, if any, murk.

Hmm.  I'm insufficiently familiar (consciously) to recognize this.  (I've only seen some of the movies, never read any of the books.)

Aha! Another one that's high on my want list so yet another very useful review for me! Maybe it won't stay near the top but it will still stay on the list.

'Useful' is what I strive to be in my life and it's probably the highest compliment I can give. Thanks!

Great ink, this one. My favourite from the Diamine Anniversary collection. This really is my type of green.

Here's the line width measurement. The line is one of those used for dry time.  Magnification is 100x.  The grid is 100x100µm.  The scale is 300µm, with ten divisions of 30µm each.  The line width for this ink is roughly 300µm.

Lovely ink, and helpful review. I made a choice and ordered Classic Green first, but I think it's inevitable that Safari won't be too far behind.

:D  Thank you!  And, you can't have too many greens - especially murkier greens. ;)

Thanks for the info (I only used B&W film and learned to process that).   Boy -- the stuff I learn here!  Just continually astounded at the depth and breadth of knowledge in this community! Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

It just wasn't likely to have been Kodachrome.  It would have been the films I referred to as "other color films." (Kodachrome is not a generic term for color film. It is a specific film that produces transparencies, or slides, by a process not used for any other film. There are other color trans

@Ceilidh -- Well, I knew people who were photography majors in college, and I'm pretty sure that at least some of them were doing photos in color, not just B&W like I learned to process.  Whether they were doing the processing of the film themselves in one of the darkrooms, or sending their stuff out to be processed commercially?  That I don't actually know, but had always assumed that they were processing their own film. Kodachrome 25 was the most accurate film for clinical photography and was used by dermatologists everywhere. I got magnificent results with a Nikon F2 and a MicroNikkor 60 mm lens, using a manually calibrated small flash on a bracket. I wish there were a filter called "Kodachrome 25 color balance" on my iPhone camera.
