… on the mixed media art paper all I see is a cool, teal-leaning grey.

All the colour has disappeared from the micro beads of ink sprayed alongside the splatter, once the ink has dried.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

Thanks for this!  Now if only the ink had managed to display some of what's in the chromatogram!  It might have been interesting...

Without the mic, you can't hear a thing

And on the new phone, even with the mic, you can't hear a thing.  On the old phone, during post-processing, I have to lower the volume in the video editing software I use.  With the new phone, same mic, I can't hear the nib (or aircraft). :( Same app, same settings, can't find anywhere to adjust the mic input.  The video editing software won't raise the volume enough to hear the nib. :(  Good thing I fixed the old phone...  Too bad I wasted all that time on the jig.

ETA: Turns out this mic problem is a known issue with moto g phones. :(  Like it would kill the Android folks to give you a setting to adjust microphone gain?

Turns out I do not have MV Copper Noir.  I was hallucinating.

In other news, my fingers are now stained Azure.

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

Alternatively you can extract a few of the soundtracks from the old reviews, and add them to the new videos in "Post production" ;)

A bit like old Italian movies, when the sound was added later. :D

 Yeah, something would definitely get lost in translation.  Some poor soul with OCD wouldn't be able to watch my videos without going insane... I could add closed captions: "tappety tap tap tap, tip tap tippety tap"...

I am pleased to report that shampoo removed all evidence of this ink-ccident.

:D Amazing stuff, shampoo...

DAY 768 - I am finally aware of how sadistic they are. For no good
reason I was chosen for the water torture. This time however it
included a burning, foamy chemical called "shampoo." What sick
minds could invent such a liquid? My only consolation is the
piece of thumb still stuck between my teeth.

👍  thanks for sharing.

i actually like this charcoal grey shade of black, as i prefer black that is not too intense.

sometimes it gets too harsh for the eyes when reviewing many pages of black-inked words with the blackness of ink looks intensely black against the white paper background.

:) Good point.  Some inks do tend to be a bit loud...

Here's the line width measurement. The line is one of those used for dry time.  Magnification is 100x.  The grid is 100x100µm.  The scale is 330µm, with eleven divisions of 30µm each.  The line width for this ink is roughly 300µm.

I had not tried this ink yet, and was surprised to read 'no blue'...don't let this put you off on the Monteverde Noir series, I like them very much, and I appreciate the ability to buy a bottle in a smaller size, for more variety per dollar.  I have been assembling some choices for a friend I have introduced to fountain pens, and she prefers gray, so I will have to pick up some Azure Noir.  Curious as to how it might compare with Diamine Earl Grey, or their Graphite.  Thanks for the review, I was surprised not to see more 'Noir' reviews.

I was very surprised not to see blue.  Copper Noir is a great one. :)  Azure Noir looks a little darker than Earl Grey, to me.  Graphite has a strong green undertone to it.

:) You're very welcome.  I'm just reviewing what I have.  If ever I get more Noir samples, they'll get reviewed. :)

I’ve never seen this ink, so I was expecting a blue.

I have a bottle of De Atramentis Maron that is supposed to be a brown tone. It was when I first used it. After some time passed, I put it in a pen, and got gray.

This ink was included in the Monteverde Bloō 10 ink boxed set, and I feel like I was cheated out of a shade of blue. I would have preferred something from the Jungle or Sweet Life collections instead. The Ocean Noir however, is my favorite of the set.

Top 5 (in no particular order) of 30 currently inked pens:

Sheaffer 100 Satin Blue M, Pelikan Moonstone/holographic mica

Parker T1, Dominant Industry Dominant Blue

MontBlanc 1441 F, Monteverde Brown Sugar

Platinum PKB 2000, Platinum Cyclamen Pink

Waterman 52 EF, Herbin Bleu Pervenche

always looking for penguin fountain pens and stationery

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.
    • Ceilidh
Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
