Thanks for yet another very useful review for me! This is one that's been high on my interest list.

You're most welcome!  Glad to knock it off the list for you. ;)

I really like the color - I see much more violet than grey

That could be exaggerated by the combined effects of my camera and your monitor, though there is a little purple in the chromatography, it's more a hint than anything (at least from my nib).

but I cannot justify the price, especially since PenBBS 346 Misty Mountain has been scratching my itch for a similar color (though it's probably significantly warmer?) incredibly well.

Yeah, and the sizes you can get independently are kinda meh.  But if you wanted to scratch the itch until it bleeds, you could pay $7 for a 15mL bottle from Vanness, and then pay obscene (I assume) amounts to ship it to Thailand...  Vanness are the only store I've seen who are willing to break the set apart...  (At least, it appears that's what they're doing.)  Probably better to stick with Misty Mountain. :)

Thanks, as usual for the stellar review.

I like the look of this color but it reminds me too much of De Atramentis Silver Grey (which I already have as "Tchaikovsky").

Here's the line width measurement. The line is one of those used for dry time.  Magnification is 100x.  The grid is 100x100µm.  The scale is 330µm, with eleven divisions of 30µm each.  The line width for this ink is roughly 300µm.

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.

Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
