well, having used this very ink for decades ( yes decades am not exaggerating ) and literally tens of bottles , I must add that this ink lean to the dry side when used in pens and while its darkish Blue is nice, once fully dried and aged it turn to a very very very dark blue , in essence its black to the eyes. Sheen and Shading is not something this ink offers but can be had on some pens depending on how the ink are being laid down and of course if the paper cooperates.

It is an old formula IG ink so yeah you would want to be frugal with the cleaning , I do agree if am left in the wild with only 1 ink to had I probably will take this one too , once dried all through its practically impossible to eradicate the writing from the paper unless physically destroying the media

Wouldn't you want to clean it more often not less?

Thanks, Mech!  Always nice to get input from a long-time user. :)

I'm sure it's just that English isn't Mech's first language.  I understood that "careful" or "diligent" or "frequent" was intended.

well English is one of my two native language studied since I start to learn , but I do understand the misunderstanding .. while Frugal means taking care not to over spend ( usually with money ) or careful in spending or expending effort. The way I learn the word as in old English is that it also mean taking cautious step towards what's being described ( not referring to the use or effort but just care to the actions described ) .. I know sometime words get their meaning change over time and that might be the reason why the misunderstanding .. I was still in my OLD English mindset when using the word , not quite realizing that the meaning is now seldom or not even being applied to the words in the wider more modern use of the language.

Am probably too influenced by my high school English teacher , he come from old school of OXFORD English , yeah he put us up for watching Sir Lawrence Oliver's Hamlet even though my class had no curriculum for English literature. Had to thank him for that , but hey Mr Bulff if you still around, let me state this , I still hate those homework

It could also be regional - there are more regional differences in English than most of us know - hence my assumption that it was a second language for you (not recognizing regional differences) - apologies, I meant no offense.

No need to apologize, , you've done nothing wrong. I understand that languages do had regional and usage difference varied by locale, time period and so.

Has anyone compared this ink with Pelikan 4001 blue/black with the exact same pen?

The Pelikan ink seems to be rather dry ink. My Yiren 312 and my Wing Sung 3008 do not like the Pelikan B/B ink. I do know that the Yiren pen writes fine with a 100% dye ink such as Diamine Oxford Blue.

I do like the Hero 232. I wouldn't have used three bottles if I hated the stuff, would I?

This ink was an enigma for me.

I agree with TSherbs, it's a perfect tone of blue black for me too.

It worked really well in everything I put it in (and on) but I found I never really reached for it other than to mix it up with something else.

Each time I see a review of it I think, "Ooo that's nice." . . . . but I've not replaced my bottle 😐

I would start going down the  "A rose by any other name" etc. but look at the success Sailor have had with just numbers for some of their inks.

Thank you for making me think "Ooo that's nice." again 🙂, I wholeheartedly agree with your findings.

Why am I not ordering a bottle though 🤷‍♂️?

By reading the two reviews, you'll have a comparison.  They're very similar.  I liked this ink better than the Pelikan.

:) You're very welcome!  Thanks for sharing your experience with it, and your swatch card!

Dunno.   Perhaps because you still have plenty of that Teeling Mix? ;)

Here's the line width measurement. The line is one of those used for dry time.  Magnification is 100x.  The grid is 100x100µm.  The scale is 330µm, with eleven divisions of 30µm each.  The line width for this ink is roughly 315µm.
