Capillary P61 Burgundy with Consort cap: Does it Exist??

Looking for another capillary P61 for my collection I have stumbled over the following question:

Input:

1. Consort cap was introduced on England-made P61 in 1967.

2. Capillary filler was discontinued in 1969.

3. Burgundy (Maroon) colour of section and barrel was introduced in 1969.

Question:

Does/did P61 Burgundy with capillary filler and Consort cap exist??

I have never seen the one...

All P61s in Burgundy w/Consort cap I saw were the ones with c/c filler...

My notes indicate that both the burgundy was introduced in 1969 and the capillary filler was discontinued that year also. My guess is that there was not a burgundy capillary as Parker probably started phasing out the capillary filler long before that and wouldn’t use it in a “new” color.

Mike, thank you for confirming my guess :)

I came to the same conclusion based on the data available.

Of course, nothing would prevent one from pairing a consort cap from a C/C 61 with everything else from a capillary-filler, would it?

Thanks for special opinion ;)

However,

1) my question was about original factory-made P61s;

2) as far as I remember, capillary 61s Mk I and Mk II are different from Mk III with c/c, at least, in

a) inner cap design;

2) section threads.

So, generally, their caps are not interchangeable.

Anyway, for a clear picture I will check the matter on my 61s...

The key point: there was no factory-made P61 with a capillary filler and section+barrel in Burgundy...

Okay, I'll bite (having just stumbled onto this thread).  What's a "consort cap"?  I know that some 61s supposedly had rainbow caps (sadly, none of mine do).  But I haven't run across the term "consort cap" before now.

Ruth,

Here is a picture of a Consort cap on a Capillary Surf Green. I think this cap was probably intended for a later model with a wider different clutch ring, but it works just fine on this pen.

No capillary 61 with a consort cap.

Parker did in fact produce a capillary filled 61 in the Consort pattern.

A bit of Parker trivia is that the Consort caps have a higher gold content- they were made with 1/5 rolled gold rather than the typical 1/10th caps. Could theoretically reduce "brassing" but maybe it just allowed owners to feel superior about their pens!

Not correct at all.

Consort cap was introduced in 1967 while capillary filler was discontinued in 1969.

There were capillary 61s with Consort cap in black and perhaps some other colours, but not in Burgundy.

I have got P61 Consort Insignia with a capillary system.

INO, Consort caps and barrel look and fell much better than RG ones.

I have got P61s Insignia both "normal" Insignia and Consort one and should say that Consort feels noticeably heavier and so more comfortable for me.

However, I should admit that Rainbow caps in excellent condition look very nice and gorgeous, too.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
