J. Herbin wettest ink

I was looking for an ink that might play well with my MB 149P O3B. Well, J. Herbin Perle Noire flows amazingly well and it is very well lubricated. Feels like I am writing with a new pen.

I tried MB Permanent Blue and it was soooo bad, had to change ink almost right away.

My question is, any other J. Herbin ink that flows as well and as water resistant as Perle Noire?

I don't know about water resistance, but Bleu des Profondeurs is wet and extremely well lubricated.  (Note that Pussiere de Lune is the worst-lubricated ink I've ever used, but that was in a Japanese EF, and it may not be noticeable in a MB 03B...)  FWIW.

PS: Just because you found one Herbin ink that worked well does not necessarily mean (a) that there's another that will work just as well (attributes vary within brands, contrary to popular opinion), nor that (b) there aren't inks from other brands that will work just as well.  If you're interested in Herbin for some other reason, then nevermind, but if you're looking for wet, well-lubricated inks, then there are some from Sailor, De Atramentis, Diamine, and Colorverse (just off the top of my head)...

Right now I have Poussiere de Lune in a Parker Duofold Junior with a fine nib.  It is not so lacking in lubrication as to be unpleasant to use but is certainly not a good choice for someone looking for a very lubricated ink.

I agree that Bleu de Profondeurs could be a good fit, depending on how water resistant the ink is required to be.

Jacques Herbin Bleu de Minuit (their "premium" line) flows from a pen unlike anything else I've seen, even compared to some of the very wet Sailor inks. It makes Perle Noire and some of their otherwise very wet inks pale in comparison, at least in my pens.

Hi, I did not find Bleu de Minuit on their website

You tempt me, and the rest of the people who've got Perle Noire as a favourite.

I second @LizEF's observations on Bleu des Profondeurs. I haven't continued to use it because it is too dark for my tastes.

I think in my own tests Bleu des Profondeurs was among the better Herbin inks for water resistance, but I think that depends very much on how much of the ink you manage to get onto the page.

Great info, I will buy either Bleu de Minuit or Bleu des Profondeurs.

I have heard that Lie de Thé is extremely wet flowing and water resistant. Any input on that one?

I have no experience with it, but you can easily see the water tests that JetPens has done by checking out the aggregate images:

Another vote here for Bleu des Profundeurs, which I like very much (but don't know how water resistant it is).  I'm also a fan of Eclat de Saphir (not remotely water resistant, but works well in a capillary fill Parker 61 because it's not saturated).

Ditto.                                                                                                                       I'm not, because this one is too watery.

Seems I'm going to have to buy a couple (or half dozen) of their inks to form my own opinion. Surprisingly the only Herbin ink I currently own is a stash of Perle Noire cartridges I use purely for work purposes.

See if you can get samples.  That way you're only out a little bit of money if you don't like the color/behavior of an ink.  And if you do?  Then you've got a a nice little sample vial to use for travel purposes.

The regular line of Herbin inks are offered in those tiny little bottles that you can get for only about £2ish each... the only one I'd need to consider getting a sample for is the blue mentioned here from the fancier line. I never consider samples for <£5 inks, honestly. Very sensible to get samples of pricier inks, though... I'd have fewer £20 inks I don't care for if I did that....

Never even thought of it as wet.....in it is a very good two toned shading ink....don't think it's wet at all.

And never think of any of my inks as water resistant. I don't live in a rain forest and have learned not to spill my cup of what ever.

I do like it a lot....in spite of me wanting to use up a lot of inks, will buy it again. In I Need It.

I like it better than MB Toffee which has priced its self out of my range...

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
