Plea - UK source for Fine Parker Gel Refills

Flounder

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know where I can pick up some genuine Parker gel refills in the Fine (0.55) size? Ideally in blue, but black will do if nothing else is available.

Surprisingly hard time getting ahold of these, and surprisingly vague & conflicting advice from Parker's support and Instagram teams. Maybe they're being discontinued, maybe not, depending on who you ask! I just want a genuine refill for my product from a global brand. The closest I've managed so far is Luxor fine gels being sold as genuine Parker on eBay, which are going straight back - too many reports of ruined clothes.

PenHeaven appear to have them in black:

Does it have to be Parker brand? There are some very good G2-type refill alternatives available.  (See CultPens G2 refill page for some examples)

Does Amazon.co.uk not sell them? I can certainly see it listed (as sold by Amazon).

Or do you strictly mean a bricks-and-mortar retail outlet you can visit to physically pick up the product?

Thanks for reaching out folks. Yes, I have a preference for the Parker gel refills over others I've tried that are compatible (seem to remember the monteverdes as just awful).

Penheaven don't actually have any in stock, in either colour. I don't necessarily need a bricks and mortar store, but do prefer to avoid Amazon & give independent sellers a chance (it also decreases the chance of being sent yet more Luxor-made refills posing as Parkers).

Greetings Flounder,

Have you tried the refils from Beaufort ink here in the UK? Ok, these are a medium point but made in Switzerland.

Worth dropping an email to enquire, in the past I have found the info from Phil the site manager/owner to be very useful and informative

Best of luck

Personally I would much rather choose Amazon than ebay for those reasons and those that I linked you to are being sold on the Amazon platform by Europens UK - a well known UK independent seller in their own right.

Each to their own. You “pleaded” for a UK source from which you can acquire the product you want, and to me that requirement must therefore trump other considerations and preferences (other than keeping the purchase transaction legal for a genuine product as described). In fact, if your preferences are creating blind spots by fencing yourself inside a comfort zone, the best thing your fellow forum members can do is to offer suggestions that come from a place of not sharing those preferences and self-imposed limitations, to broaden the horizon, and leave it to you to decide whether it's worth getting outside your comfort zone to get the stated desired outcome.

For what it's worth, when I order something from Amazon and the seller is stated as Amazon itself, then in my experience chances are it'll be the genuine item; furthermore, if anything is wrong with the item — from as major a problem as being counterfeit to as minor a problem of having some cosmetic damage (e.g. bent corner on a hardcover journal that is the genuine item) — Amazon has always been quick to make things right for the customer, although it has a tendency to offer a full refund and (even) let the customer just keep the received item and use or dispose of it as he/she wishes, instead of going to any trouble to secure a genuine item and deliver it in perfect condition as remedy because that would take a lot more effort.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

That’s odd. When I follow the link to Penheaven, that I posted in my earlier reply,  it shows that black fine refills are in stock. I added one to the basket without a problem.....

They are also showing as ‘In Stock’ for me at that link (as of 1910 on Sunday 19th September).

@Flounder are you perhaps running a VPN that says that you are outside the UK?
I’m no techie, but my other idea is that you could try dumping your browser’s cache and cookies and then clicking on the link.

Good luck 👍

I emailed them to ask guys, and they were kind enough to respond. Penheaven have a Medium in stock at the moment, but no Fines.

To add to my list of no-gos: I won't be buying any loose refills either, as I'm seeing in Amazon comments etc. and sold by certain non Amazon sellers. I need to be able to see a blister pack that lets me tell whether its Parker or Luxor manufactured.

Unfortunately reality hasn't matched your link, doubly unfortunately the worst yet as they've sent the wrong colour, in the wrong size, loose instead of blister packed.

If anyone knows* of a UK or even an international source of genuine fine (0.55) Parker gel refills still in their blister packaging (why remove it if they are genuine?) please get in touch via this thread.

*ideally you have bought the real deal from the seller before

To update this thread, I can happily verify that forecast-pens.com in France stock genuine Parker gel refills in the Fine size, sold in blister packaging as the 2021 Parker Trade Catalogue describes.

They were happy to reply to my questions about their stock and sent exactly what they said they would.

Glad for your success! I have found Parker Gel refills in the local US Staples store. I checked my spares and found them to be .7mm so not fine.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
